yeah...but a few points to ponder.

  • That ice won't last very long
  • you have to have a freezer large enough to make that block of ice
  • Even if you have a big freezer, it takes considerable time to make ten pound blocks of ice in a household freezer
  • The air coming out of that thing is damp, just no De-humidification action at all, an important part of summer comfort.

Fine for a summer outing, but would wear thin in a house.

To get the cooling of a 6000 B.T.U window air conditioner operating for an hour, you would have to go through 42 pounds of ice in an hour...

Every trailer should have one.

Would probably improve the comfort of a meth lab too.

they're a fair old bit more than that over here, ritch. plus i can't really justify the expense against the odd couple of weeks a year when it might get used.

summer is seemingly over and done with here now, anyroad.

5000btu is 109 exact. It's indespensable. The humidity is f'in gross and it's used for much more than a few mere weeks here. Up until mid october even, so not worth sweating your balls to save a few bucks. It's like heat in winter. A must.

the last 2 weeks here have been ungodly humid, yesterday I opened the door and shut it right away, beyond invasive. Trying to cook in such hot weather is impossible or even clean after.

But if you can take the heat, that's good, I can't!
