Good point. Most people in my family and a large number of friends have used that word including myself. It's not something I try to say Anymore but when you grow up around it then that's what happens. But of all the dozens of white people who I have heard say that I don't think any of them hate or even dislike black people as a whole. It's just part of behind closed doors language.

I sometimes wonder how or if I would be different growing up without racist language around me.

You do realize they love to call themselves that and is one of their most heavily used words in their limited vocabulary. Why are you afraid or something?

I'm not really interested in using that language as its offensive to some and not socially acceptable. Like sometimes out of anger I will use a word like homo even though I have no ill feelings towards gays and have gay friends. Just part of the vernacular I guess.

As far as the n word I hear it most in rap songs I listen to. It is very common there.
