At work I constantly hear adults talking about youtube vids.  They ask me if I've seen so and so and I have no fucking clue what they're talking about.  I have no interest in youtube.

I used to be dismissive of people with internet fame, but really, why is it different than people with fame in other areas? Most of these internet celebrities are meant to appeal to a younger demographic.  For someone older who sees youtube as a depository for cat videos, it sounds ridiculous that you can build a career off of that, but it's not really any different than being a columnist or a talk show host. It's a new medium, but it's not really a lesser medium.

It's more like $0.001 per view, but there are complicated economics involved. For some, it can be lucrative, though, no doubt.

My gym has a huge poster of YouTube celeb Rich Piana using a seated dip machine in the squat room... It doesn't motivate me to train legs. There's also a bunch of dudes that have 5% t back's and water bottles too. The scene has changed, I used to get motivated by watching Markus Ruhl's 'made in Germany dvd'.

But other people are only famous due to TV, Movies, Magazines etc and in those cases those who are famous are picked to be famous by whoever runs those areas.

Youtube and Insta gives anyone the chance to be famous without stupid politics or personal insecurities involved.
