lol you're missing the point...I'm portraying that the reason he excels with his sponsors is because he is able to appeal to a more unique, different type of audience (talent aside, because he's never won an olympia and still is more popular than Heath among voters) and in this day and age, those actions are in his favor. In a different time, (with the same freedoms) his weird, obscure displays would have not worked in his favor. Call it a marketing technique? Not at all. He's just being himself.

I agree with what you're saying but that last part is not true. In the world games Dorian Yates came in 7th. This was towards the beginning of his career though.

I think the world games was his second show.
He did a First timers at Ken Lathams show and got an invite to the World Games from the EFBB.
He learned from that show and said he would never be pressured into doing another show unless he thought he could win the whole thing.

Thanks Dorian, now Phil will definitely stick around for at least 7.  Phil is the kinda guy to take a comment like that and use it as fuel because even though Dorian is correct, it's pretty much a preemptive attack on Jay, Dexter and Phil.  Bad timing for Phil with the Olympia being a month away itll be interesting to see what he does or doesn't do.

It throws the whole credibilty of the IFBB and the title out the window and leaves a sour taste in the mouth. Besides, the sport needs a fresh injection of excitement and drama to revitalise things and set tongues wagging. Come on IFBB have some balls and do something progressive this year. No more stagnation!

While I would agree in principle, if by their judging standards he is the best one what is supposed to happen? i think he's going to be in business for at least 2 more years. If I were him I would get out before he does himself further harm. I would also go do something that paid more money and had more credibility. Besides from what I've heard they've got some new guys coming up in the ranks that they will start to push since the old guard is starting to go down the tubes. So that will probably be your progression but that won't happen for a year or two

The same was said about Flex.

Same with Lee Priest, small chest compared to arms etc. That's why I always talk about the difference between symmetry and aesthetics. The so-called symmetrical guys didn't always have great symmetry, they just flowed in a pleasant way despite actually having relatively poor symmetry.
Old timers always cry about the lack of symmetry today but the guys today have way better symmetry in general, for example many guys used to lack legs. Many also feel a small waist is synonymous with great symmetry but if you think about it, it's just an aesthetic preference that's pretty subjective.

And if the O title was given to Wolf this year like many here would like... what about his lack of calves? His symmetry is fucked permanently.
