About a year ago he looked way bigger ,larger and healthier plus everything was flowing too.

It is.  His frame is carrying too much muscle (to look good or aesthetic).  Flex Lewis is a better example of a shorter guy carrying a lot of muscle on a small frame.  Aaron used to look good, but his waist got big as he kept chasing size.  He has achieved a nice "freaky" look, but that is not the same as a compelling bodybuilder physique that should be winning trophies.
