Well with your liver and test levels being directly linked they will be mentioned in the same test for liver enzymes etc

If they check that box on the screening paper work, yes. If not, no. If you're curious just check the box yourself.

Well this is for my psychologist and I hate to lie,yio know how they frown upon that shit.

She`ll say that`s the cause of my anxiety and depression even though I`ve been living with these issues most of my life and was diagnosed as having them way back in 1997 or so.

LFT - Liver Function Tests are completely separate from any Testosterone tests.

If you want to see where your Testosterone levels fall, ask your doctor to order both a Total Testosterone and Free Testosterone test.

Total Testosterone is a test that provides a range for testosterone in your body that accounts for both testosterone that is attached to proteins in the blood like albumin and sex-hormone binding globulin + Free Testosterone that is unbound and travels throughout your blood. This test gives you a very broad sense of what's going with testosterone within your body, but if you want to get truly specific, you need to ask for a Free Testosterone test.

The "Free Testosterone" is a test that reflects the actual testosterone that flows throughout your blood serum for actual use by your body. This is the substance that actually gives you the beneficial gains observed by way of increase muscle mass, strength, stamina, sexual libido, strong bones etc.

Ask your doctor for the specific tests, because if not, he/she won't simply order it, as it could run your insurance a bit extra over the cost of a basic primary care checkup.

P.S. Wes, if it's a psychologist, she shouldn't typically be capable of ordering such labs. If it's a psychiatrist, then they most certainly can.

Thanks OMR,I really don`t want the doc to know my Test levels as they will tell me to get off...............even though I`m on a very low dosage.

At my age (60),I feel I`m just replacing the Test that I lost over the years.

Test levels start to drop after the age of 25 or so as a rule from what I hear.

That's bullshit!  The lab will send the results to your doc yes, then the dr can give you a copy.  That's your information and you have every right to see it and question it.

Hmm?  Interesting.  My GP always hands me that exact form and then I go to the separate lab where the blood is drawn.  I often check additional boxes when I want certain information. My doctor never cares at all. He is always curious why I checked the additional boxes and I always explain. He just smiles.

Only if your doctor requests is.  It requires a different test so if they aren't checking for testosterone it won't show up.

Depends on what setup they have in their private practice.

If they have skilled medical assistants or phlebotomists that can draw your blood on site, then the doctor will simply fill out a requisition slip (what you uploaded in a previous post) and have the team draw your blood on site, which will then either be ultimately shipped out to one of the local labs (example Quest or Sunrise diagnostics) or be sent to their in-house laboratory where they can examine the specimen onsite.

Also, if the doctor gives you a requisition slip that is signed with a set number of tests to be run and you decide to manually click off other boxes, you are essentially changing the doctor's orders. You sly devil you!!

Thanks OMR..........I`ll be asking for a copy now that I know this.

Tom,I live in east cupcake Northern N.Y.,..........these rubes have no clue and neither did i.

I`ll get a copy this time.............if I have an option to check off stuff,I`ll omit Test levels for sure.

hate dealing with doctors who frown upon gear use especially when it`s minimal.

See,if I omit any tests she wants done if that`s possible in my case,I`ll just have to go back and have those done over and included into the results.

That's just going to have them evaluate liver enzymes (ALP, ALT, ASP, LDH, GGT, PT, Bilirubin, Albumin & Total Protein). If you want to read up on this, check out this link: https://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/liver-panel/tab/sample/

It will not include a Testosterone (Total and/or Free) test.

If they test for test levels, it's not like they're gonna know the resulting number is from using test (right?).  For all you know, the number might come out too low.  Who knows?  You might qualify for HRT  ???

You can request whatever test you want (insurance won't necessarily cover it tho).  As long as they're drawing blood, you might as well get as much as possible tested (within reason), like cholesterol, glucose and Vit. D levels.
