COACH, Yea , If I recall correctly his best lift was deadlifting.

Cus's character name in RUNNING MAN was BUZZSAW and that same year (1987???) he appeared in a movie called HOUSE as ARNOLD the Barbarian.

I first met Gus when he was a baseball player before he got serious about powerlifting.

He promoted some very good powerlifting events  and may still be doing the same today.

In fact I believe he started his own  powerlifting organization possibly 20 years ago.

Speaking of powerlifing .... did you ever know or communicate with Mike Lambert? (Owner / editor of Powerlifting USA????)

Gus runs the WABDL org.
His meets are top notch. I met him up here in Maine a couple years back. Very thin these days after having a quad bypass years ago.

He's still doing his thing though...

Not sure who the fat guy is, but thats Gus on the right...

The man is CRAZY strong ..... but have him come off the juice and he pushes a whole lot less

Knowing / thinking  somebody is on the " abracadabra" makes a lot less of an impact for me when I see something like this

Some people are just saying "truth"........... dude is a monster no doubt, but others that are busting it every day and not on the sauce have nothing to envy from roided monsters

Some of the people talking here might be decent benchers themselves..... you never know

Got a 600lb deadlift which I don't think that's so amazing. I haven't got within less than 80lbs of a 500lb bench though.

600 lbs. pull - go to the mall, movie , concert, any gathering of the public and there won't be 1 person out of a thousand who could lift that weight .... if you're benching in the 405 range same stats apply, crazy strength friend

You need natural strength, The average guy  will not see a 405 raw bench in their lifetime whether they take steroids or not. To bench 500 you pretty much need to be a genetic freak

I have people all the time tell me "Ohh I only Bench like 225 it's nothing compared to you" to go along with above topic most grown ass men walking the face of this earth cannot lay down and press 225. Yeah a typical gym rat should be able to do 225 but as a person who coaches people on the bench 2 plates can be a lot and it is respectable status in the gym. 315 is Golden!!!!
