I think there was one time, a few yrs back. Photoshoot or something and Sr got so mad that he stormed off. I do think that he didn't want his son mixed up in this. Especially when he could see the facial resemblance. And that's why he said "school, books". Bodybulding is peanuts still. But, structurally, I think Junior is built better than Phil Heath.
There is no doubt that Sergio jr. has a better structure than Phil. He's 2 Heaths wide :D ,with his dads overall overall shape and insertions, for the most part. He will win the nationals overall. The IFBB needs him.

One of the best interviews I've heard in bodybuilding. I didn't know that Sergio Sr. did not support his son. It's kind of heart breaking to hear Jr. speak that about his father. Admittedly, my son wants to bodybuild as well and I keep talking him out of it.

He seems like a nice enough young man.  His posing is dopey though.

The most exciting figure in the ranks right now. If Genova wins his pro card I would love to see these 2 go head-to-head one day at the in the Doubletree Lobby at the NY Pro.

He's a big dude but something is missing.  He needs to be in shredded condition. He needs to be full as well.  I've yet to see that from him. He has great potential though.  I like his personality as well.

Definitely something missing. Got pop's full arms (sorta), and the small waist, but the rest is eh. Legs are bad, back is bad; chest/shoulders, ok, I guess. Decent genetics at best.

Wish my legs were that 'bad'...

They should look better in the pic, as he was posing in a competition there, as opposed to guest posing in the video.

HIS father had fuller chest, delts in prime, legs while not as separated as jrs were huge with big sweep, sergio was larger than life ,kid is not,and the 'myth'pose is a nice homage to dad but again serdio had narrower hips and smaller waist,,jr has good build and will go pro but should be on his own merit 'buildwise'leave comparison out..

Sr. has a smaller waist, better lats, thicker chest.  Jr. does have a long way to go to even look like his poppa.

.. 'Do not get into bodybuilding and stay in school' ..  Sergio Sr. was just giving his son some loving, wise, sound advice.. I'm a hard core bodybuilder, yet I would give the same advice to my son when he grows up ..

the larger waist distracts from his shape. if it were smaller, he'd look incredible. Such is life.

Comes across very well there

Needs to work on posing
Something is not right... Really needs to connect with his physicality. Create fluidity of movement in and out of poses.

Focus and control over midsection...
His dad was vacuuming and tightening in that pose

Maybe he isn't swallowing whole bottles of 100% legit ciba dianabols?

Will never happen. He doesn't have the same pop or proportion or insertions. Never in a million years

Sergio Oliva was one of a kind, most cartoonish body ever

No, you're not. It will be an issue for him, and already kinda is IMO.

All true, but his son is winning on conditioning & legs

Sergio Jrs. waist is longer than Sr's, makes his chest look not as full. Especially in the hands over head shot. Sergio needs to come in shredded this time.

That is sound advice. My kid would not forgo college for BODYBUILDING. No sir. I couldn't imagine that at all. Lift, live the lifestyle, compete as a hobby, but no way will you not invest in your future for something like bodybuilding.

He has name recognition but still...nope

Great interview. I hope he gets his pro card and does some damage in the IFBB. It will take some time though.
