A guy whom I know runs a few dojo and is a 7th Dan.
I recall him telling a few of us that he was at an event down in Birmingham, and a few 'names' where there like Dolph Lungren, Van Damme etc before they entered movies (assume it was mid-late 80's?)
But he said whatever you think of Seagal's martial art, he absolutely beat the piss out of everyone there - including some real veterans of the martial arts world.
He said he and a few others were very impressed.
