Putin, clearly, is quite angry. He calls Turkey's actions a "stab in [Russia's] back," and blames the country for enabling ISIS's "barbarous, heinous ways" by allowing it to sell oil in Turkish territory. Most ominously, he threatens "serious consequences" for relations between Russia and Turkey, a NATO ally:

We have long identified that there are a lot of oil and petro products coming to Turkey from [ISIS] territory. And some of these military groups get their financing from there. And now they stab us in the back; they hit our planes that are fighting terrorism. Together with the US partners, we signed an agreement to prevent incidents in the air.

And they announce that they are fighting terrorism as part of the US-led coalition. If ISIS has these amounts of money — and could it be even billions of dollars — due to the sales of oil and plus they have protection of the armed forces of the big state, then now it's clear why they're so blatant, why they kill people in the most barbarous, heinous ways. Why they conduct terrorist attacks in many places, including in the heart of Europe.

Certainly, we will analyze what's happening very seriously, and today's tragic event will have serious consequences for Russian-Turkish relations. We have always treated Turkey as not just a close neighbor, but as a friendly state. I don't know in whose interests today's incident is, but it's not in our interest. And instead of immediately establishing the necessary contacting us, the Turkish authorities immediately their NATO partners, as if we downed a Turkish jet.

It doesn't add up. It's like one of these cops that shoots an unarmed kid then tries to cover it up. Turkey has even said that it was only in their airspace for 17 seconds, yet they warned the plane ten times in five minutes? The fucking plane was long gone and they chased it down and shot it. Now, I agree, WWIII shouldn't be started over the deaths of two men. Turkey should be kissing serious Russian ass though for this.

SOCHI, November 24. /TASS/. Russia will not tolerate crimes like the attack on the Russian Su-24 fighter jet shot down by the Turkish Air Force in Syrian skies, President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday at a meeting with King of Jordan Abdullah II.

"I understand each country has its own regional interests, and we have always respected that. But we shall never tolerate crimes like today's one," the president said.

Attack against Russian Sukhoi-24 was not accidental, says retired general

The Russian leader stressed that the downed fighter-bomber was posing no threat to Turkey.

"Our pilots and jet posed no threat to the Turkish Republic. This is obvious. They were conducting an operation against ISIL," Putin said.
He stressed the plane was flying above northern Lattakia where militants coming from Russia are concentrated.
"The Russian bomber was shot down over Syria by an air-to-air surface fired from a Turkish F-16 plane when the bomber was at an altitude of 6,000 meters at a distance of 1 km from the Turkish bomber." Putin said.

"They [the pilots] were fulfilling their task," the president stressed adding that they were delivering preventive air strikes on terrorists who can come back to Russia at any moment.

Putin called the attack a crime and stressed that Russia would not tolerate it.

According to the president, the Su-24 plane crash in Syria goes beyond normal struggle against terrorism, and it is "a stab in Russia’s back delivered by terrorist accomplices."

BBC reported they were only in Turkish airspace for 17 seconds, and were shot down while in Syrian airspace. How does this justify shooting down the plane. The dumbest world leader is Putin...who has miscalculated very badly and now finds himself in a shitload of trouble...economy wrecked due to oil prices and sanctions...bogged down in Syria and in Ukraine.......Russian airliner shot down.....Russian figheter shot down...and also Russia is responsible for that airline shot down over the Ukraine a few months ago.....
