My gym oddly does not get a bunch of those people every New Year.

Mine, either.

It's mostly people who have fitness as a regular part of their lives. Hits pretty much every demographic.

Either way, they're all gone by mid Feb!...

It's not one of those chain places. You'll see the same people until they die. I lived out of town for years, came back and recognized a lot of people.

Not too many people in todays gyms need a fucking weightlifting shoe.
::)
Exactly

Just as Little as they need wrist wraps when not even benching 225. And even when doing arms curling  ???

my small wrists can handle 315 just fine so pretty sure they could do without them too.

if benching 405 and you have some wrist problem fine. Otherwise stupid gimmic...

Just plain curious.

It's unmanly is my view of it. To put so much attention to gym wear is a complete bitch trait to live by. Especially as they don't train hard, makes it even worse.

By not training hard, I mean people who've been at this for years yet still look like total newbs.

I don't know, you may be right. I personaly put quite some attention to what I wear at the gym (match colors, etc..) and girls seem to like it, but it's not about bitches, I've just set high standarts for myself, kind of a perfectionist/obsessed about the details.

Ok, not saying to purposely wear stuff that does not match. But when I see shoe laces, arm bands with hat color matching, I think "what a fag".

I got one pair of shoes I wear for outside and the gym, if it matches my gym wear, fine, if not, bah... No sweat or stress about it, lol...

Clothes are just to keep my body covered: I'm just trying to get the workout done before the phone goes crazy with work shit.

Why not use/buy regular sneakers on sales or from the outlet mall...    ::)

I am guessing that these are geared toward the cross fit demographic.

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/inov-8-fastlift-335-weightlifting-shoes-aw15/

The fastlift™ sets a new standard in weightlifting as the lightest product of its kind. With state-of-the-art weight lifting technology, the fastlift™ delivers stability, support and structure in the heel and mid foot.
Top Features of the Inov-8 Fastlift 335 Weightlifting Shoes (AW15)

    Upper - Synthetic
    Midsole - TPU
    Sole - Fastlift™ - Cleat Depth 0mm

Fit : Standard
A wider toe box allows the toes to splay. Perfect for the forefoot striker, athletes with a wider foot and when lifting heavy weights.

Product Data
Surface:    Gym
Shoe Weight:    335g (UK 8)
Drop:    16.5mm

Stability and Support
With state-of-the-art weightlifting technology, the new fastlift™ delivers stability, support and structure in the heel and midfoot. The External Heel Cage (EHC) and Power-Truss system create strength for lifts without unnecessary weight.

Enahnced Functionality
Given the rigid nature of weightlifting shoes, there is often a need to change shoes to complete workouts beyond weightlifting. The fastlift™ utilises inov-8’s Meta-Flex™ system to enhance flexibility and comfort in the forefoot and features a sticky rubber outsole with indentations for added grip - all while coming in as the lightest product of its kind. With the new fastlift™ shoes, athletes can finish a WOD (workout of the day) without switching footwear.

Sticky™ Compound
Inov-8’s Sticky™ compound has been specially developed using climbing rubber technology. This rubber optimises grip in wet conditions, however the trade-off is it wears down quicker.
About the Inov-8 brand

Born in the UK in 2003, inov-8 manufactures specialist sports products in the off-road running and fitness markets. Renowned for designing lightweight footwear boasting the ultimate in grip, inov-8's shoes can be found on the feet of the world's most demanding competitors and adventurous athletes.

As the blurb says Inov-8 used to do a great range of lightweight off-road runnng and hiking shoes. They got bought by Nike and things changed then. The crossfit range came from nowhere to be the main thing they pushed.

Never know, could make all the difference when the kids are doing lateral raises with 12.5lbs. Perhaps on that given day with the correct angle in the heal, they would knock out some hard core reps with the 15's!?

I believe...
;D

Adidas sambas do the job just as good as any other shoe, I've had the same pair for the last 5 years or so and they only cost about £40.

Are they due a wash some time soon?

You don't really need to wash the black ones. Now, the white ones, maybe.

Yup.  I wear steel to work boots now because I'm older and weaker and worry I might drop something on my foot.  Hopefully not my dentures.  ;) ;D

Nah...Don't have those and hope never to!  ;D

All sneakers are made in China using less than $5 in materials and $1 in slave labor. Anyone who pays more than $50 on sneakers is a fucking moron.
