his appearance in Schwarzeneggers Superstars of BBing was great, he was ALL business - no fucking about at all. He didnt speak to people and didnt get distracted when he was working out. His contract for the WBF was $400,000 a year guaranteed, i think the contract was for 3 years initially

On top of everything, Gary is a pretty cool dude. Always friendly & funny. Smart guy... good balance and perspective. He did OK $$ with Crazy Wear, if I'm not mistaken.

Haney VS Strydom only lasted once in 1988 and Gary got owned badly he just squeeked out 5th place over Mike Quinn !!

As for Gary's height - one of the few pros with height.  I can't envy a pro who is shorter than I am (around 5'9 or so) given that I think my height is very borderline as it is.  Anything shorter is seriously pushing it.  Gary was 6'1.  Here are some other 6'1 beasts of bodybuilding:

- Paul Dillett
- Gunter Schlierkamp
- Berry Demay
- Mike Christian

All 6'1 and big as hell (230+ in contest condition).

CHeers Mate it was in that Series. Exaclty from that position in the gym with the same guys in the background. I might just have to steal the photo of the gym wall one day. Strydoms physique is definelty one of my favourites from the front. Awesome screen shots by the way.

That superstars of muscle tape was unreal in terms of quality of physiques though.

1stpro BB'er I met too. His legs were so crazy big, I seriously thought his quads where going to snap the tendons holding them to his knees.Was very nice & approachable. I left the show & went straight to the gym & training legs until I almost passed-out.

Whateva, he couldn't beat Haney or the other top guys in the IFBB so he switched to win himself a pro title.

Really?  Tim Wescott posted that pic on mayhem a couple of years ago.  I didn't really know much about the details behind but, but somebody did confirm it was Gary after a reported shoulder injury.
