When he first turned pro, I became quite friendly with Mike. Humble and easygoing guy. Kind of understated in personality.
I never got anything of a gay whiff from him. Not that that means anything, particularly. Only that he was happily married.
I will say this. Mike had one of the most impressive builds I've ever seen. He just looked VERY powerful and thick. Which makes sense. He was an incredibly strong man who based his training on the barbell basics, even performing the compounds at Westside Barbell, then hitting a local big box gym for all the bodybuilding-isolation-type exercises.
His health issues very quickly put an end to things, though. His situation initially was incredibly serious. Almost died.
Mike isn't a fool and immediately gave it all up, unlike many other bodybuilders we know who tempt the fates even when red flags appear everywhere.
I have nothing bad to say about Francois. Decent and intelligent fella.
