Not really, but a fair amount of white guys seem to be committed to convincing themselves this is true.
Just because someone is on the other side of a fence does not mean they have to sit on that fence to appease those opposite them. Think about it. It does indeed work both ways. I am not for who is "right" or against who is "wrong". I am for the truth.
