Interior is almost done.  Took a few hours to clean all that grime from the seats and floor

Should have paid Tristan and Vissy 10 $ to clean that cum.

Idk what that is,  if you have a USB port wouldn't you also have an auxiliary jack? For music that's better than Bluetooth.

I'm going to plug the box into the OBD2 port.  I may use the auxiliary jack depending on which sounds better

Nice air freshener. What's with the mat on the floor in the back seat?

I was referring to it's design, not it's purpose. Haven't seen one like it before.

Oh yea...the seats were fine, just needed to be cleaned.  Always good to keep the factory stuff in it.  I need to find a front plate for the console as its missing, get the front fog lights replaced, and then I can Plasti-Dip it matte black.  With the electronics I'd adding for cheap, it will have all the functions and features of a new car and in fact, even more in some cases as it will have a computer system in it.

North Carolina is easy on smog certs, too, I think.  They don't hook up to anything but the OBD and some counties don't even require that afaik.

States like NC end up with all the used cars from strict states.  In a strict state, number one reason for people failing to keep their shit on the road is emissions testing.  So the sharks set upon them, get them currently registered by way of a scam smog-shop, and then the car can be turned over somewhere with easier requirements.

Just like Texas is (or was) the place to clear a title from a car that had been salvaged etc.

Not saying that's what's up with your vehicle, Vince, but just generally.

I have a clean title, not a salvage one.  It also passes emissions tests although I wouldn't stand behind it when I start the engine as a 4.0L is a beast when it cranks.....like a lion roaring to let you know who's king of the jungle.  I like having these components in vehicles because it allows me to better maintain them and they are dirt cheap to get from China

the Chinese EBay auto parts are obviously not the same quality as the original ones. Check superspeedersrob's channel on YouTube.

I only got a diagnostic box and a bluetooth adapter.  All of my parts usually come from CarQuest, JC Whitney or O'Reilly

Important update for everyone.  Recently, I was running a check on the Jeep when I noticed that the wheel were leaking...smelled it and turned out to be brake fluid.  Took it to a shop and it turns out that the previous owner just did brake pad swaps without any concerns for the rotors attached.....also they were some of the cheapest Chinese chop suey bonzai kung pow pads ever....no wonder the dude was changing them.  Must have been attributing it to off-roading.

Had all of that crappy shit completely removed and got some AMERICAN MADE rotors and brake pad along with a complete overhaul of the brake system.  Total cost was 655.00 dollars.  I don't mind spending the extra cash because other than the fact that I have no car payments, you never want to fuck around with your brakes, Getbiggers.

Are rotors the American term for brake discs? $655 seems very steep for a set of discs and pads even good ones?

Brake fluid usually feeds the calipers.  If he accidentally hooked the brake lines up to the rotors that may have contributed to the problem.

Exactly...also replaced the calipers...pretty much almost the entire braking system since they were down there.

I love machinery auctions but my impression is that in the US you'd do better with a private sale when it comes to vehicles.  Possibly.  Either way, do some googling V.  Acquaint yourself with how to assess viability.  Owning used vehicles means being at least 1/2 a mechanic.  If you don't like greasy fingers then you're better off paying for the guarantee and known history of a new car.  Mechanics fees, tows, and lost income from downtime will add up fast if you buy someone else's problem.  There's probably no test driving but I wouldn't buy anything if they won't let you crawl around on it and under it, start it, and put each gear under power for a couple inches.

Imo you shouldn't buy anything, no matter how good a deal you think it is, until you've attended and quietly observed a few of these shindigs.  I'd gravitate toward things I can work on - a minimum of computerization and a manual transmission.  I can't be too clear here - you're gonna work on it, which means tools and time, or you're gonna pay someone to work on it.

Ugly & strong is what you want.  People fling money at complete lemons if the paint is nice.  Fresh paint is a red flag.  I've seen trucks with freshly painted undersides that clearly came from salt country.  Vendors will pull some dirty shit.  Fleet/ government vehicles are good to look at since they're often swapped out at an age/mileage limit and come from a regular maintenance regiment, but there ought to be a fleet of them there at similar age - not just 1.  Individuals rarely undertake preventative maintenance at recommended intervals so maintenance logs are nice but rare, and perhaps not entirely to be trusted.  Badging means nothing.  Bling is the enemy.  You'll see bidding wars for a mercedes or jaguar with a mahogany dash and fucked engine when the rock-bottom model ford with a scratch that got clockwork oil changes can be had with minimal competition.

What the fuck is all this? You're answering a question no one asked and it. Are you turning in to Vince Basile??
