Have yet to read all of this so it may have been mentioned earlier .... but maybe Kev's participation in this year's Olympia is a forecast of things yet to come .... such as an Olympia over 50?

I think that if guys over 50 want to compete; they must face the open division. No more Master MR O. That was lame.

No that's not what you were saying you're kinda changing your tone now. You called him a cry baby and then Brought Ronnie into it. Don't care how he looked he's a legend and just because they let him compete isn't the end of the world at least it shouldn't be especially for you.

Spot on.

One last chance to do the Mr Olympia and he's made himself more relevant again which could springboard something for him away from the posing dais.

::)

interest and prestige in masters is and always will be about zero.

Remember that year when Bob supposedly won it? Yeah, me neither

Well I didn't mean it like he was a cry baby. I meant that it must hurt to have a poor showing, especially after all the hype that was built up. I don't think Kevin set out to compete just to compete with little regard to how he looked or placed... I do think it matters to Kevin how well he does. It's just like Ronnie in that most of us didn't like how he humiliated himself guest posing a few years after retiring looking so bad.

Can't believe some morons on this board actually thought he could be top 6.  And some of them claim to be experts.

don't you know that almost everyone on Getbig is a certified Expert?

I don't think Ronnie has a hard time with how he looks. In fact he seems pretty damn comfortable. Seems like a lot of other people do though. People expect Ronnie to look like he used to which is clearly unrealistic. It's nice to see anyone from the older era come on stage as far as I'm concerned. If Lee Haney and Dorian were asked to train for a few months and guest pose knowing full well they are not going to look their best I'd love to see that. We all get older but people seem to get all surprised about it? I talked to Lee Haney about 8 years ago and he was talking about possibly guest posing. Can you imagine the shit he would have gotten if he didn't show up at his best.

As far as Kevin goes lets forget he's 52, the reality is that he trained for 5 months and pretty much started contest dieting from day one. He never had time to gain any real size. OK here I go speculating but it's the truth. Dexter is 5 years younger than Kevin and he's been slamming drugs for well over 25 years. Kevin decides to train for 5 months and you got people saying he's gonna drop dead.  ::) Same with Freeman almost Kevin's age but for the most part never had a break in years. Could Kevin come in bigger? Of course, could his legs regain their past size glory prob not but I'm sure he could muster some more size from them. Kevin was a true freak so he will be judged by his past look. A guy like Dexter doesn't have to be big because he was always judged on his conditioning. Dexter did bring his legs up which is an accomplishment but in reality means nothing as far as the Olympia goes, all it proves is that one can build size to your legs in your later 40's.

I'd love to see Kevin stick around for a few more shows maybe see what he can do in the gym with a true off season but he just may call it quits. Either way I'll shed a nostalgic tear for him not because of how he looked but because of what and who he represented last night and tonight, an era of bodybuilding that is sadly gone forever and in my eyes will be greatly missed.

MAXX/ROYALTY, You appear to infer that there would be no interest in a Over 50 Olympia and I tend to agree with ya .... but there seems to have been a lot of interest in Kev's  participation this year which just might have given birth to a new IFBB  Oly idea.

Plus a Masters Oly just might be considered to be a 'courtesy' to give these old time greats a reason to get back in shape and compete once again.

Consider the above to be a REMOTE possibility, but I think that there be a good number of fans who would appreciate it even if was only held in conjunction with the EXPO.

Kevin's upper body could have been borderline top 10. His legs are what killed him. That said, his calves are still as good as Dexters and better than Wolfs.

And it worked. Everyone talks about Levrone. He was in every ad. The biggest thread on front page here is about Levrone. He is the locoman of this year's O hype train.
Whether it was voice of his heart or he was offered money to jump in to generate some buzz, it worked, he brought some fun and expectations to the competition that lost all its glory a long time ago.

Yes, he doesn't deserve a place and he would never qualify for Oilympia with that body, but I don't see shame in that. He still looks good for an old man and it's simply nice to see a legend amongst men.
Yesssszzzzzz!

You know what's funny?

Kevin woke up this Saturday morning with a smile, exhausted and relieved and proud.

"The Champ" woke up this morning miserable, scanning social media for haters and anxious for today's show.

Dead last vs. First Place, and completely opposite mindsets.  Kevrone will be happy in 20 years while the other guy will be still seeking validation, disposing of people, lying casually, and generally just being an unhappy crap person.

Kinda makes last night's pre-judging seem like a Levrone victory after all.

Does this mean that Kevin and Shawn Ray are gonna be besties again?

Or does it mean Shawn Ray is NEVER gonna shut up with "I told ya so?"

and Dave Palumbo had him winning.... guaranteed us kevins legs were there....

All the hype.. the private jet... the shit talk

Oh yeah, I predicted that Kevin would be dead last and pretty much embarrass himself also... well not embarrass, but leave us with a different picture in our minds than his daya standing with Dorian

That is why Dave's site is terrible. It's all fluff with no substance.  They literally have a week turnover on Muscle Central.  ::)

They have good interviews, but that does not solve the problem. Nobody wants to post there.

^^
The big problem, is Levrone got ready WAY too early- remember seeing the crazy photos a few weeks ago???  He then didn't manage it properly, and just depleted until the contest...
BAD PREP, and you'd think he'd have KNOWN by now how to get ready???
