Never thought much of Casey's structure, weird midsection/obliques. Boyer crushing him down into a fine powder and smoking it.

nether casey was like 12 years old in that pic  ;D

Boyer was always one of my favorite bodybuilders.

Saw him in 1972 or so in Boston as he was a guest poser.

He had on a black Golds Gym track suit and looked tiny to me.

Once he got onstage I fucking freaked,Diamond split calves, marble columns for quads, tiny waist devoid of abs but who cares, and his fucking arms were huge, just enormous with split peaks in both biceps......posed like a pro too.

One of the most impressive guys I remember seeing to this very day.

The next day in my youthful enthusiam I trained like demon and was sore for a solid week!  :D

I agree Tim. I saw Boyer in 1980 right after the Mr. Olympia contest. He was giving a seminar in Chicago at Bill Pearl's Gym and he came out in his posing trunks after the seminar to do a posing exhibition and I was blown away. His legs, which look thin in pictures sometimes, looked amazing in person. He looked much more impressive in person than in pics. I can see why he was such a great champion for so many years. Also, consider that his career lasted from the 1960's to the 1990's. Not many of today's bodybuilders will be competing for a 30 year period.

What a short and shitty career, not a single win, no one knows him.  ::)

Boyer had a great physique and he's quite enjoyable to listen to in interviews as well.

Indeed and his 1994 comeback was inspirational. How some people say he was a nobody or a shitty physique with only a biceps split is beyond me.

Very impressive for his age, hanging with the young guns. He said in an interview that he started hitting the GH and that is what kept him competitive.

Amazing arms

Lenda Murray looks great in this video, the last Ms. Olympia to actually grace the cover of FLEX/Muscle & Fitness.

Besides the skin, more bodybuilders back then look like their muscles are full of water when relaxed...in a good way,,, like they're supposed with 70% water in skeletal muscle...and then there is a huge difference when flexed. Now, the muscles have a similar look flexed or relaxed.

Some more pics of older Boyer. Very impressive, only he, Lou and a couple other golden era guys were still relevant in the early-mid '90s.

Robbie Robinson was still relevant, as was Tom Platz, Rich Gaspari, Mike Christian, and an aging Sonny Schmidt and Vince Taylor.

Robbie is another one. Gaspari, Christian and Sonny weren't part of the golden era, though. By this point Platz was done. He did that one comeback around '94 but I don't think he ever competed.

Wes and Natural O are absolutely correct.  Boyer Coe is bodybuilding royalty.  In addition to winning almost every major contest, he came close to achieving the rarity of winning both the overall AAU Mr. America and the IFBB Mr. America title.  I think he won the medium class and several subdivision awards in the IFBB show, but was edged out by Ken Waller for the overall championship.  I am privileged to have attended his guest posing exhibitions and have met him.  Very down to earth, patient, articulate, and personable.  Anyone who thinks Boyer Coe had a short and unaccomplished competitive bodybuilding career is either misinformed or an idiot.  Maybe both.  Again, kudos to
Wes and Natural O for taking the time educate the Getbiggers who aspire to learn and appreciate bodybuilding history.  This site is fortunate to have two such accomplished competitors/historians amongst its membership.
