I'm in my own world in the gym. I just want to do my workout and get out. I've been lifting for a year and a half at the gym I'm at now and haven't struck up any kind of conversation with anyone I haven't already previously known.{gym is in my hometown so I run into people}

I think this can make a difference. I have three proper training sessions on weekdays in which I wear cheap and scrubby clothing from Sports Direct. However, I sometimes go on the weekend just to do a low intensity workout and I'll wear some more flashy gym clothing. I tend to get female attention on those days and more "mirin" looks from everyone.
