What more can you expect.? The norm there is to work like 30 hours a week. Cant afford much on a 30 hour a week paycheck.
I don't think an extra 10 hours of work per week is going to transfer them to a lap of luxury.
It's a way of life that doesn't foster innovation and drive for success. I don't know anyone who works 30 hours a week and has anything other than debt and complaints about money.

Well, it probably has little to do with 30 vs. 40 hours per week and more to do with the nature of the job. You can work 30 hours per week and make a great living if you're, say, a heart surgeon. Not so much stocking shelves. An extra 10 hours per week probably won't make that much of a difference if you're making $6.00 an hour--at that point, if you really want to see a difference, you need a whole new career.
