That is kind of a stupid question. Hillary was a weak candidate and even the Democrats recognize this now. Trump for all his faults connected with the common man. Imagine that, a billionaire from NYC connected with rural America in the Mid-West. I think to assert that Trump is stupid is asinine. Dude did turn 25-30 million into a billion so he is not a complete idiot. The problem lies in the fact that he is trying to run the country like a business which is profit based. The government lure is power, women, and money. They could give two shits about a small efficient government if they could get their fair share. Plus, the President persuasion over Congressional leaders is really minimal. Look, if you a Demorat ...  ... you can become your parties de facto leader by calling for impeachment even when there is no proof...i.e. Maxine Waters  .

As for universal appeal; that is not going to happen anytime soon. I can only see it happening if an independent with the social progressive values of a center left candidate who happens to have center right fiscal leanings can engender a run and become President. As long as it is R vs D, it will be a 50/50 split. Republicans, myself included, despised everything about Obama.

Liberals hate Trump. I do not know one liberal who likes him. Personally, he is vile and uncouth but he has a certain honesty in his interactions that is unrehearsed and genuine. That is why middle America forgives him, and why it is likely he will win re-election despite his man foibles.

Hindsight is always 20/20. The democrats pushed Hillary in 08 and then again in 16. The republicans didn't even have a viable candidate in an election that they should have been prepping for.

Trump connecting with the "common man" is fascinating, especially given all the circumstances of his life let alone being a long time Clinton friend/supporter (this proves the man understands the American political game).

Universal appeal will never happen and that's my point. People become so invested in ideas/people/movements that there is always an unhappy group. Political allegiances are insane but people cheer and celebrate their party and boo the other, like it's good versus evil with no middle ground.

The president is Trump. We should all be focused on what we can do to make our communities better and in turn making the country better but instead we invest our resources  in a political party.  It's sad to think about.

 (CNN)Kathy Griffin is fighting back against the abuse and "death threats" she has received in light of controversial images released earlier this week that showed the comedian holding up a bloody head resembling that of President Donald Trump.
In a news conference on Friday, Griffin's attorney Lisa Bloom accused Trump and his family of "using their power to target her."
"If you don't stand up, you get run over," Griffin said. "What's happening to me has never happened in this great country. A sitting president of the U.S. ... is personally trying to ruin my life forever."
Bloom said the comedian was contacted by the U.S. Secret Service and said she has retained a criminal lawyer.
"As a result of the first family bullying her, she has been vilified, getting death threats, fired from multiple jobs and had multiple events canceled,"Bloom said.
