Hmm, I think there is so much focus on the "schmoe" person that people here conviniently forgets that it is bodybuilders themselves who have been pushing the boundaries in terms of erotic appeal by doing things like performing highly suggestive posing routines or wearing revealing posing suits. It was not the outside world "demanding" that they did it but bodybuilders themselves eroticising the exhibitions of their bodies beyond what a muscular body istelf naturally suggests.

Nudity is not needed; bodybuilding as a competition would lose its focus and the fantasy factor.
