zane was a great bodybuilder was bigger in person than what you see in mags. he was awesome when standing alone. looked great. but when the bigger guys came on stage he was dwarfed most of the time.   dickerson won alot of shows your right. i know that i could never understand how. he lacked balance and symmetry and size. he had 16 inch arms for gods sake.( yes 16 inch arms)  the judges liked him ( he was gay after all so he probably had no problem giving "favors" )   he looked good but not mr olympia or even the grand prix winner shape. but he got them.

His upper chest was non existing ....  at 5'9' Ill say he was 175 lbs there

Seriously?

Yes, he was riding his bike a lot with his wife for his cardio and got into an accident where he went over the handlebars and landed on his shoulder. It messed up his training that year because he
was not able to train as heavy and he had to work around the injury.

Again, it's one of those things where you had to see Dickerson on stage in person to realize how good he was. The bodybuilders today (since the '90's) are much, much bigger but back then, there were few real mass monsters. Dickerson had polish and quality to his muscles, he had great shape and proportions and he knew how to present himself. Looking at pictures of him now, it's easy to see his weak points but you have to see him in person (same with Zane) to appreciate how good they were.

I've seen Zane & Dickerson on the Olympia stage.
Zane does look good & comes across very well for one lighter muscled
Dickerson - Nope - some good body parts & some awful ones
Not in the same league as Zane - Never should of won the Mr. O
Plenty of Physiques way better than him around at that time.

Zane was a class act. Dickerson was a great poser but had horrible arms and badly torn chest. He should've never beaten Zane. Dickerson was gifted not only the Olympia but also the two 2-nd places in 80 and 81.

in my opinion every win dickerson got was a gift. he had an ok build but not symmetrical or proportioned and was not "big". period. he was a decent poser but thats about it. he did have good calves.

Dickerson at his peak years had some serious density and his body looked carved out of ice compared to many guys standing next to him. He competed for a crazy length of time. Two second place Olympias and a win speaks volumes.

I read his arms were 17-18".

Danny Padilla is 158cm/5'2", Tom Platz 173cm/ 5'8", and Albert Beckles 170cm/5'7", so Zanes height could be 175cm/5'9" as he claims.
