Sometimes I wonder about the SAT scores of some in the reading comprehension section. Obviously a deliberate attempt to mislead by the author of the article but even then it contradicts itself. The meaning is obvious when in relation to the rest of the interview.

Even this twisted version has Pruitt wanting a debate between those on both sides of the issue so obviously he doesn't mean science is meaningless, etc. in the way they are trying to convey.

It is simply saying that debateable "science" should not be politicized, etc. Obvious when the rest of the interview is shown and what they were discussing. Cannot take numbers/studies and fudge/leave out others to only shine a favorable light to your side. Hence why he would want a debate. He wouldn't call for that if he didn't believe in science. Article has already been called out for the misleading way his quote was portrayed. Just like racism should not be thrown about so freely.
