Vince was chomping at the bit to adopt an edgier style to appeal to the older, more mature fans ala ECW. But, in the wake of the steroid and sex scandals of the early 90's, he was forced to adopt and adhere to an excessively subdued, diluted product that resulted in the cartoonish content seen in the "New Generation."
