Are you sure about that?

maybe a little power as hitting the ball far can take some power

but like my uncles used to say, if you cant get hurt doing it like you can with contact sports such as boxing baseball football etc, then it is for pussies and not a real sport

they believed that in order fof something to be a sport there must be danger of injury like getting an elbow to the belly from basketball, getting nailed in the head by a 100 mph baseball, getting a fuxked up knee from getting hit in football, getting knocked the fuck out in boxig etc

golf and bb have no danger of injury from contact from another participant

in fact the assholes called me a pussy for being a track and cross country runner since there is no contact from others or chance if injury

macho uncles i have

Awfully naive thing to say from your Uncle. I'm not knocking your uncle because he just doesn't realize what he's saying and if you're taking what he said as gospel, that makes you just as naive. Yes, I can explain it.

Golf requires power and it gets you into one of the most unnatural positions at its finishing point in most sports. You think of strength on just a saggital plane (straight). A golf swing begins on a saggital plane but end in a transverse with the lead leg STILL in the saggital plane. In other words that swing just turned into a LATERAL movement not only just placing stress on the ACL but lumbar as well. Take Tiger Woods as an example http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/tiger-woods-injury-timeline/story?id=42708936

While he is an extreme example, most of these injuries are very common with Tour players. The power involved in swing with let's say a driver, is ridiculous compared to you and I. The average is about 112-115mph Tiger at his best was about 121mph. I'm about 108-110 (a few years ago) the average weekend dude is around maybe 95-100mph. Do you understand my point?

Yep, golf does require power and hand-eye coordination, but.... there is no fear of contact like in other sports which require this same power and hand-eye coordination like boxing and baseball

having the chance of gettimg nailed by a hard fist or a hard baseball takes much more guts than not having any of that to be concerned about and also having everyone keep silent while you do it lulz

ie.... Golf is for pussies 😄😂

Perhaps it more important to think of the word "athlete" on a continuum, instead of a binary classification. Id say that "golfers" can be athletes, but they are on the lower end of the athletic spectrum. They are obviously not athletic in terms of a football or hockey player. If we thought of the continuum as being a scale of 1-10 (0 = not athletic at all and 10 = super athletic), I'd say golfers are like a 1-3. Football players and hockey players are like a 7-10.

Golf is a game, not a sport. It requires skill but not physically challenging. Same as darts, snooker, chess and any other parlour game at the Mirage Hotel.

good point

so in that case bodybuilders are a 1 and powerlifters a 3 and baseball players a 6

yes I consider it at the high level of competing a sport.

So spelling bees, debating, jeopardy!, hackathons, miss universe, etc are sports?

Bodybuilding is a pageant.

So because he doesn't workout doesn't make him an athlete? Dj and I were talking about injuries related to sports, I gave him an example. No, you're an ironworker. You get paid on a hourly wage, it's not competitive. During tournaments, Cabrera will walk an average of 20-25 miles a week up and down hill on a course swinging hundreds repetitions during that time.

Have you ever played golf on a full course without a cart?

I've rucked 27 miles with a 45 pound pack and been fine.

I played 54 holes down in Alabama this past week in 2 days and felt it.  There is most definitely a physical aspect to it.

would you consider powerlifting a sport?

football is strange coz lineman have near zero stamina while backs .are fairly fit

the most athletic of sports are basketball and boxing

baseball of football dont require enough stamina as those 2 and stamina/cardio fitness is a very big part of sport or at least it should be

if you say football and baseball don't require stamina it's obvious you've never played the game.  you're in eye roll territory here.
