Asking for a friend...
« on: November 13, 2017, 08:46:49 AM »
(For real).... ok any of you getbiggers use an electric shaver?  A surgical tech here wants to get her boyfriend one for his birthday and asked me which was the best.  I honestly have no clue as I use a blade.  I tried using a Norelco (sp?) about 10 years ago and it left my face with all kind of red chew marks on it.

BB related - he will use it on his back for AAS induced hair growth in the lat area during his furious bid to win a local level show with only two years of training and on 6 grams of roids a week.

Nothing shaves as well as a blade but if you are gonna suggest electric, Braun is supposed to be the best. Figure $150+  US.

I, myself, use a $29 Norelco for a quick shave or while driving to cash my million dollar monthly checks ...  and it's good enough for me.

Has anyone noticed the high price increase of blades lately?

Dollar Shave Club is great.  Gillette is supposed to have a monthly membership similar to theirs as well.

The few times I used an electric years ago, it just pinched and ground up my face badly.  They say you have to give it time and let your face get conditioned to it, but who wants to look like you have stretch marks on your face for 5 weeks adjusting time.

There definitely is a short adjustment period, but after that it's a close as a blade.   Any higher end rotating blades will be fine.

But, if it really is for back hair, I'd just suggest periodic use of nair or something.

Back hair comment was just to keep it BBing related.   ;D

Did it grind your face up in the beginning too?

Get a Wahl peanut. Cuts close but not too close. It has a powerful motor. I've had one for years.

It would have, but I used the trimmer part first, which mitigated it.  If you use them with longer hairs, it's awful.

Electric is fine if you're a guy with light facial growth. If you  have a heavy shadow the day after you shave like me I found it doesn't do a good job. A blade is the way to go.
