Bale went way beyond the extreme for the machinist, I think his diet was a can of tuna and an apple or something (read it somewhere)
Oh and if that Stallone diet is true then I'm sure the anabolic goodies helped him keep on whatever muscle he could while filming.

Yeah I believe Bale pretty much fasted for quite some time. He said after a certain point the hunger just goes away and your mind clears up or something like that. Then he went nuts for a couple of months bulking up for a screen test for Batman. He ended up adding some decent quality mass in quite a short amount of time.

Actually I sympathize with Sly! He was seriously trying his hardest and getting reject by all the acting agencies until he came up with the Rocky script. I did,
it was a good movie, but Stallone didn't carried it,
it had a good cast.

And rocky was back in the day also good movie, kid from the backstreet, climbing up, continualy prooving himself.

If you look closely, Stallone didn't actually do any acting in Copland. It was his departure from his usual habit of overacting that created the illusion of good acting. A brilliant maneuver!
