the no of hours NOT eating is interesting though, if, there is any benefit to it.

a 16 hour daily fast, might be tough for some.

but skipping breakfast and having 12+ hours of not eating, isnt very hard, if that qualifies for fasting? would be interesting to see if there's a difference between 12 hours of no food compared to 14-16 hours.

lots of people skip breakfast, but they dont see it as fasting...

i think most eat something outta that 8 hour window, snacking etc

but lets say there is a benefit of fasting then surely its an easier sell with 12 hours to go without rather than 16

and with a smaller window to eat you have to eat more

if you only eat twice a day and eat 4000 calories thats 2000 caloriers per meal

I don't eat 4000 calories per day.  I'll get fat pretty quickly.  2500-3000 is usually the range I stay in.  If I felt hungry or weak/tired, I would eat, but eating this way works great for me.  I feel great.

Serious question - why do you feel 0 calorie beverages like the ones above  need to be avoided?

Serious question - why do you feel 0 calorie beverages like the ones above  need to be avoided?

2 reasons

1. anything that is not water even if zero calorie your stomach has to break the down enzymes. so you want to give your stomach/body 100% day off. drink only water. i love bcaas, diet soda, coffee (all the zero calorie stuff) but i cut it out when I fast

2. also i am a firm believer in all or none. if you drink BCAAs when you fast... why not a pickle? they are only 5 calories, or a few chocolate chips ? so nothing but water. keeps you honest

there are many ways to fast, I have a large frame (midwest/german) and i am a firm believer in it to really lean up/trim down. but i only support the 24 hour fast or ideally the 36 hour fast for  me. if you are a big dude - fasting is an easy way to get get in great shape without really doing much different. plus it saves you $100+ a month too..

it can really help with digestive problems which ive finally sorted out.

anyone asks me how to loose weight/get their health on track? eat a moderately clean diet and do 36 hour weekly fast.

I'll do all the fasting I'll ever need when I'm dead.

What is it with all this nonsense Intermittent fasting  ::)

Eat when your hungry don't eat when your not - simple,
why try to complicate things.

you can lose about 6-8lbs just clearing your digestive system of food and shit...

I couldn't care less about what I weigh, I care about how I look. And after about 5-7 days of well-structured IF after a long time not doing it, I've tightened up quite a bit. Lost a lot of that water bloat / softness that I tend to get if I'm not eating on point. Not naturally lean, skinnyfat.

Thanks for the honest answer.

I get the "all or nothing" and the idea of resting the body, but I  do get stuck with things like this though:  if two people of similar genetic makeup do the same fast, but one drinks black coffee and lemon water and the other doesn't,  do you think there would be any difference in terms of getting in shape?

I do all day.

I don't like plain water too much.   So I just put a shot of lemon juice in with 20-25 oz of ice water.
