It's not strange at all. He was a con man cult leader who told his followers to kill people and they did. That makes him a killer under the law.

High profile murder including celebrities in Southern California over some petty bullshit and it involved a super charismatic guy like Manson.

Sell a 100 million books off that alone.

well, in addition to the Tate murder which he orchestrated, he did drive them around a few nights later to another house where his followers killed 2 more people..
