When I was going to college back in the late 80s there was an all-girl apartment complex right outside of campus where we all suspected there was undercover hoeing going on because old men were going in and out of the building frequently during the night. To make a long story short... someone I knew had a friend who dated a girl from that building and found out what was going on. Eventually he told us all about how to tell whether there's underground hoeing going on or not: If you see girls driving around in BMWs, Range Rovers, wearing mink coats or $5,000 watches to Tuesday's class: She's hoeing. Especially if the school costs 100k per year, which is what blew my mind: some of these girls' parents were filthy rich and they chose to engage in hoeing just for the money aspect.
Anyhow, my friend's friend ended up falling in love with the girl and ended up hanging himself when he found out the feelings were not mutual. I actually saw his body hanging from a tree and the image is still printed in my head.
