China has only really surpassed the USA in terms of economy, growth of a middle class due to mainly US corporations going over there for cheap labor. But, many Chinese send their kids to college over here, in fact many universities and colleges rely heavily on foreign students. And many Chinese buy land and property over here, as investments and just in case things go belly up in China. Goods especially luxury goods are taxes heavily in China, and a trick many Chinese university students with rich parents do, is to buy their luxury goods and cars here---have their parents wire money to them.

China also requires that if foreign car companies wish to sell cars in China, that they must partner with a Chinese car company, and that the plant is not owned (majority) by the foreign car company. And guess who steals, um "uses" the intellectual property of said foreign car companies.
PSA has already warned of a Chinese "Trojan Horse" when it comes to Euro companies. The Chinese car company Geely already owns Volvo, and acquired Lotus. And I believe a Chinese firm owns Pininfarina now. China is in it for the long haul. In fact you can tell this is right out The Art of War. OP celebrating what seems to be some small token victory.

China is in it for the long haul. In fact you can tell this is right out The Art of War. OP celebrating what seems to be some small token victory.

America's economy is built on a solid foundation of free enterprise.  China's economy is built on a weak foundation of government control.  

China has made some steps in the right direction but, the reality is their economy is still government controlled and it's the government that's holding them back.  

Right now China's per capita is 8,583 compared to 59,495 for the USA.  For comparison Mexico's per capita is 9,249.  So the average Mexican is better off than the average Chinese.  At their current GDP growth rate of 6.7 percent it would take 30 years for them to catch up with America, provide they were able to keep that high rate for that long.
