Even some of the Gracies got their asses kicked in their early challenge matches they use to have. There is a video of them going to a Judo dojo and getting thrown around by the judokas there because they didn't know the throwing techniques.
Really? Where and when? I was training with the Gracies in Torrance, Ca in the early 1990s when those
challenge matches were going full throttle. Running the academy at the time was Rorion, Rickson, Royler and Royce. Don't recall anybody losing during that time.
And exactly where are those videos where they are getting "thrown around" by Judokas? I do remember some posted between the legendary Howard Nishioka and Rickson Gracie where it shows Howard executing some legit clean throws on Rickson. Those vids were titled like "Howard throws Rickson" and "Judo beat Gracie Jiu-Jitsu". Problem is that they only showed about 15 seconds of the video where indeed Rickson does get tossed on his ass. But if you watch the whole session, about 15 minutes beginning at 3:45, you will see that, though Judo is not Rickson's specialty and stand up is not his strong suit, he takes Howard down four times and taps him twice. Howard take Rickson down twice and does not, nor does he even attempt, to tap him while on the ground. Royler, also featured, was much better at Judo and competed often in Judo tournaments.
