LOL you got jokes.  This track from Thin Lizzy's 1979 classic tour de force "Black Rose" album, with Gary Moore and Scott Gorham on dual lead guitars, should clear the gunk of the previous post out of the ears of true rock aficionados.

I won't argue 70s, just 'Not 80s':

Music: Good examples. 80s owns metal (but Master, dude, c'mon!); Appetite/BiB are both amazing, but GnR was arguably a one-record band, and the bulk of 'DC's genius was in the 70s.

Movies: More great examples. But 80s might be the worst movie decade ever - cheesy time, cheesy tastes, cheesy movies. Fun stuff, but not great cinema overall. War: Apocalypse Now ('79); Crime/Gangster: Godfathers ('72/'74), Goodfellas ('90); and T2 was 1991.

Bodybuilding: Who cares.

TV: Seinfeld is the best, no question. St. Elsewhere, Cheers, and Hill Street, too. But it was mostly goofy sitcoms. The NYPDs and ERs (both 90s) ushered in the gritty cable/Netflix stuff so commonplace now: Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, etc.

you must have a tin ear. but people said that about a lot of groups acdc songs all sound the same etc etc.. every group has a style and that accounts for a formula to follow in all subsequent music when they have success..

ok exchange t2 for terminator then, i have a hard time picking a favorite among them anyway.

nothing cheesey about the shining, empire strikes back, raging bull, elephant man, kagemusha, das boot, blade runner, first blood, king of comedy, once upon a time in america, brazil, ran, stand by me, aliens, the platoon, blue velvet, cinema paradiso, mississippi burning, and do the right thing.

throw in a couple of hundred action, comedy and horror movies - a bunch of arnold, indiana jones, die hard, eddie murphy and seagal and we got ourselves an awesome decade!!

no point in including more than a couple of thin lizzy songs in a playlist, maybe china town and boys are back in town. like i said, they sound mostly the same.

but so does acdc.

No, sir. Excellent list of movies, though, no argument here. 70s/90s - longer lists with better stuff is all.

nah i think its pretty fun and interesting to talk about different decades in culture. how things evolved, how bands came up and went away, how artists reinvented their careers, how new music styles was created, comparing old tv-series to modern tv-series (which now rivals the movie industry, movie actors going to tv where as before, actors who couldnt get movie roles where forced to do tv, how tables turned) etc etc

it sure isnt a discussiong about nothing, quite the opposite.

that is, if you have any interest in movies, music, bodybuilding, tv-series etc which i suppose, you dont. in that case it might seem like nothing.

Not sure why you're thinking that, other than the tv part, since tv these days is pretty much dead.

if you had an interest you would participate in the conversation, rather than commenting on it as being about nothing.

to claim that tv is pretty much dead is a really clueless.
