Why would you opt out? I thought the smart meter saves money?

what the fuck are you saying what does a meter have to do with how far away it is from you ....
A smart meter is an electronic device that records consumption of electric energy in intervals of an hour or less and communicates that information at least daily back to the utility for monitoring and billing. Smart meters enable two-way communication between the meter and the central system. Unlike home energy monitors, smart meters can gather data for remote reporting.

Smart meters transmit to a receiver on one of the nearby utility poles.

I don't think you need to worry about radiation from it.

Had my old meter switched to a smart meter in July. I'm still kicking.
I think you'll be alright.

listen they transmit very powerful ionizing radiation in all directions, hence the term tinfoil hat to be protected from this radiation

Then wrap the smart meter in tin foil or lead & you’ll be protected & saved.

I downloaded this fitness app on my iPhone. It has a little battery that is filled with green on the top right hand corner that tells me my energy level.

When I wake up feeling refreshed the battery is full.

By the end of the day when I feel worn out the battery is almost drained

Have no clue how it can tell what I'm feeling and it was worth the $1.99

Sometimes during the day if I've been busy at work and making sales calls the battery is half drained.

I may not feel worn out but that battery is telling me I need to "take it easy" and slow down.

I always depend on the fitness app battery marker to let me know when I need to shut down my engines, recharge my battery and get myself back into neutral.

You need a app on your phone to tell you how your feeling  ::)
FFS Man how out of touch with yourself are you.

Do you also have apps to tell you how to & when to walk.

If you are really concerned about your health stop taking all those steroids and such.

Worrying about radiation from a smart meter is like Franco Columbu eating yogurt for health while blowing up his liver taking Dianabol.

you don't "THINK"...... that's your problem....once you do some research on the subject you may think quite differently!!

Lets start with...Radio waves are non-ionizing radiation....just like your favorite FM/TV over the air station.

Smart Meters have a small computer inside them.  they have a modem that sends a radio signal similar to WIFI at 902 MHz, or 2.4 GHz.

When a smart meter is installed.  It sends a signal to your neighbors smart meters...The computers "figure out" a pecking order with each other...

Near the edge of the subdivision is probably a flat plate antenna...The meters find which meter is closest to the antenna.  When it comes to communicating with the power company, a meter will "talk" to the next meter in the pecking order...which will talk to the next one in line...on down the pecking order until the one that talks to the main antenna inputs the data to the power company.

Of course, this can be done both ways with the power company sending commands down to an individual meter in a neighborhood.

Self driving cars will be similar...cars will talk to other cars within say a hundred yard radius...
They will make informed decisions about driving because they will know what other cars in their radius are doing, their destination, and so forth.

Are you worried about smart meters...but not 5G?  If you have Plain Ordinary Telephone Service...That is, a landline telephone that works by modulating a 12 volt electric current...
That is so going away.  Even the wires that come to your house on the poles outside will go away...Those are called the "F2"... At the cross connect box where the household wires interconnect with the trunk cable ("F1") that goes to the switching office.

They are going to install a small cell station in place of the box on the left.  Rip down the F2.
Then send the Phone calls, AT&T tv service, internet by 5G to your house.  You will be just a few hundred yards from the towers.

Again, Radio waves are non-ionizing.

Edit: see the sign "lightspeed ready"?...it is such a lie.
