Socialism failed miserably.  So what else is left to try?  Oh yeah...

Maduro Embraces Capitalism and Venezuelan Emigres Are Returning

After leading his country’s economy over a cliff, President Nicolas Maduro has brought it a certain measure of stability. By allowing dollars to flow freely and private enterprise to flourish in recent months, he seems to have breathed new life into his regime. He remains widely despised but emigration has begun to slow, people are returning and the government is enacting laws to tax dollar transactions and allow companies to issue debt in foreign currencies.

“The economies of the countries that have helped us are capitalist -- China, Turkey and India,” said David Paravisini, a lawmaker in Venezuela’s National Constituent Assembly associated with Maduro. “To get their aid, you need conditions of economic liberalism. That’s what China did to move forward. It’s what we have to do.”

The new approach includes secret talks Maduro has had with holders of some $60 billion in bonds, some of them American, offering to pair them up with a foreign drilling company that would be granted the rights to oil fields as a means of their recouping debt. Venezuela has the world’s largest known oil reserves and if this deal came to fruition, many investors could reap enormous profits.

Over the past year, the U.S. dollar has become Venezuela’s unofficial currency, appearing in cafeteria menus and mom-and-pop shop windows blocks from the presidential palace. Across the capital, bodegas filled with French Champagne, vacuum-sealed salmon and Grana Padano Italian cheese appeared where bankrupt shops had once been. The bolivar, the official currency, has become worthless through years of hyperinflation.

AOC Attacks American Ideal of Lifting Oneself Up ‘By Your Bootstraps’ as a ‘Joke’

Deep thoughts with Alexandria Ocasio Cortez…

AOC speaks to Congress: “Ms. Hutchinson, I also want to thank you about bringing up the poverty draft and this idea of a bootstrap. You know, this idea and this metaphor of a bootstrap started off as a joke because it’s a physical impossibility to lift yourself up by a bootstrap, by your shoelaces? It’s physically impossible. The whole thing is a joke.”

__________

'It's a physical impossibility to lift yourself up by a bootstrap': Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez argues everyone needs help to succeed

The progressive lawmaker argued nobody succeeds alone, and some people have advantages over others.

Ocasio-Cortez said it would be "narcissistic" to claim she bootstrapped her way into office.

_______

After conservatives slammed her comments, the progressive firebrand tweeted a NBC News video of Martin Luther King criticizing the concept of bootstrapping for African-Americans. The civil rights leader argued slavery, segregation, and stigmatization left many of them "bootless."

"I believe we ought to do all we can and seek to lift ourselves by our own bootstrap," King said in the clip. However, he added, "It's a cruel jest to say to a bootless man that he ought to lift himself up by his own bootstraps."

There are no perfect people walking around, but she is such a self righteous, arrogant, bigmouth know it all who is always schooling people about how they should act, that it’s really hard not to take pleasure when she makes an idiot of herself which tends to happen frequently.

Longtime CNBC anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera running against AOC

(CNN)Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, a former longtime CNBC correspondent and anchor, has launched a challenge against the phenom freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, according to a filing with the Federal Election Commission.

"I am the daughter and granddaughter of working class Italian and Cuban immigrants," Caruso-Cabrera said in a statement to CNBC. "I am so lucky to have had such a wonderful career and I want everybody to have the opportunity that I've had. That's why I'm running."

Caruso-Cabrera would run as a Democrat to the right of Ocasio-Cortez, who has labeled herself a "democratic socialist" and supports Sen. Bernie Sanders in the presidential primary.

In Caruso-Cabrera's book, "You Know I'm Right: More Prosperity, Less Government," Caruso-Cabrera unveiled her vision of limited government and explained why Ronald Reagan was her favorite president. (The forward to the book was written by Larry Kudlow, President Trump's National Economic Council director.) She serves as a member of the board of directors for financial services firm Beneficient

Caruso-Cabrera spent more than 20 years with CNBC, serving as a co-anchor for "Power Lunch" and as the network's chief international correspondent, before leaving the network in 2018 to become a contributor. Her last day on air was February 7, according to a CNBC spokesperson.
About a dozen candidates have filed to run for the seat, which encompasses parts of the Bronx and Queens, even though Ocasio-Cortez will be difficult to beat.

Ocasio-Cortez gained star status in the Democratic party after her shocking win in 2018 over Rep. Joseph Crowley, a party boss in New York City and a member of the House Democratic leadership. The congresswoman has become a high-profile proponent for single-payer health care, the co-author of the Green New Deal legislation and a fundraising powerhouse, raising over $5.3 million last year. She gave her coveted endorsement to Sanders and has campaigned for his presidential campaign in Iowa and New Hampshire.

AOC lowers expectations on Medicare for All, admitting Sanders 'can't wave a magic wand' to pass it

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Thursday that if Sen. Bernie Sanders were elected president, he still might not be able to get Medicare for All, his signature health plan, passed in Congress.

A president can’t wave a magic wand and pass any legislation they want,” Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., told HuffPost this week.

AOC’s war on fellow Democrats likely to eliminate her House seat

By Post Editorial BoardFebruary 23, 2020 | 7:31pm

AOC’s war on fellow Democrats likely to eliminate her House seat
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)REUTERS

Indeed, she and her allies are now targeting several longtime local lawmakers, on the theory that they’re every bit as much of a problem as Republicans.

“It’s time to elect a progressive majority in Congress accountable to strong, grassroots movements that push support for issues like Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, racial justice, & more,” she tweeted Friday.

“My ambition right now is to be a little less lonely in Congress,” AOC told The New York Times.

But she may not last in Congress: Already in hot water for refusing to pay dues to her caucus’ fundraising arm, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, she’s now devoting her resources instead to defeating Democrats.

Don’t be surprised when the established Democrats who’ll control redistricting after the 2020 Census do their best to eliminate her seat.

AOC-aligned progressive candidates fall flat in Super Tuesday contests

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's progressive candidates did not have a “super” Tuesday in the first congressional primaries of the 2020 cycle.

The Democratic establishment, on the other hand, could breathe a sigh of relief after three primary challengers from Texas and California underperformed in highly anticipated contests against longtime Democratic incumbents and establishment darlings.

A favorite of progressives across the country, Texas congressional candidate Jessica Cisneros, an immigration lawyer, came just short of recreating the AOC primary upset of her own when she attempted to unseat nine-term incumbent Henry Cuellar, who represents the Texas 28th district south of San Antonio. She played strong to her progressive roots and often referred to Cuellar as “Trump's favorite Democrat," also receiving high profile endorsements from Democratic presidential candidates, including Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

Ocasio-Cortez herself tweeted Wednesday: "I am so incredibly proud of Jessica Cisneros. At 26 years old, she ran for office for the first time to offer TX28 new leadership that fights for workers, gender rights,& a climate agenda. She stood up to Koch brother money & incumbency, & she came closer than anyone imagined."

Meanwhile, Christina Tzintzún Ramirez, the progressive-backed candidate for a Texas Senate seat, is struggling to make it into a runoff with MJ Hegar, the Democratic establishment's favored pick to face longtime Republican Sen. John Cornyn in November. While no candidate won more than 50 percent of the vote in the race, returns show Ramirez locked in a battle with Texas State Sen. Royce West for a place in the runoff with Hegar.

Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Wednesday that "my heart is also full at the candidacy of @cristinafortx whose race is currently too close to call in the runoff for TX Senate."

There was another bombshell(Republican candidate) I highlighted last election cycle in southern Florida who was right in that same category but unfortunately got edged out by the incumbent Democrat land whale.

I think she was a newscaster or something like that.

If that piques anyone's curiosity I would certainly encourage your to look more into it because this lady was just incredible.

Beyond that what can I say about this lady running for AOC's district? Just spectacular.
