Can foreign presidents security be armed in the United States? I tried googling this and could not find anything. Obviously our secret service is armed anywhere around the world? I think?

If Putin visits the White House are his guys armed?

Generally yes. It's hard to find exact protocol on it, but the foreign security detail usually works it out with the State Department /DSS - https://www.state.gov/m/ds/ , and many times local authorities. How much trouble they give them also varies with how powerful the country is, and how good the relationship is with them.

For instance, Israel seems to have no trouble -  https://nypost.com/2010/07/08/bibi-guns-swiped/ (cut and paste link) .

Kofi Annan's detail got in trouble for wanting too much gun, and being afoul of NY/NYC laws -

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2002/feb/21/20020221-035936-8176r/ .

----------

It also works the other way Canada, NZ, and Britain all give or gave the US trouble about armed Secret Service details, but it usually gets worked out -

etc....

Everyone else in the thread was confused. I was referring to Men in Thongs. Not firearms.
