After beating a superior Victor Matinez and losing to Dexter, Jay's presence as a Mr. O contender was wearing thin. But I remember watching the prejudging and when he walked out it was a "Wow!" moment. Just so huge and full. And then when he turned around and stood there for a second his conditioning was jaw-dropping. At that level, few make such dramatic improvements and he certainly did that year. Trying to do something no one else has done in bbing history must have been a huge motivator.

Sure, he has a blocky physique. Being a huge Mentzer fan that is OK with me. It's all a matter of taste and preference but I thought he crushed everybody that year. A clear winner.
