This begs the question of why people would leave California to go to Seattle. One store owner cited all the Bennys. She called it Freeatle.
It's way more expensive in California than Seattle and the public schools are better in the suburbs. You just get a larger and better house for the same amount of money and Portland is even more so. I remember people in Portland would have anti Californian bumper stickers.
All the cities in the West are affected by the Californian exodus, ie Las Vegas, Pheonix, Denver, Salt Lake City, Portland, Seattle, etc.
