Should Bodybuilding Have Affirmative Action For Blacks?

I was talking to two African American State Police officers in the gym this morning and they brought up Pro Bodybuilding. They said in the 1970's Blacks suffered greatly in the sport due to racism. Both said that today its still happening even though more blacks are winning, they are not making the money that white bodybuilders make.

They stated that blacks should get an automatic 10 to 15 points per contest and be guaranteed  two long term contracts with a major supplement company.  The supplement company would receive an adequate tax break.

So, what say you?

I brought that up. Their response was blacks are not making the money like white bodybuilding champions. Kai Green was an example compared to Mike O'Hearn. Jay Cutler to Lee Haney. They said the white guys are living good while black bodybuilders are hurting. They also brought up Robby Robinson stating that that would never happen to a white bodybuilder from the 1970's. Zane, Arnold, Franco, Ken, Lou, were all taken care of by Weider.

We don't need we are too dominant in bodybuilding pageants, music, sports, looks. Probably other groups need it, or at least a handicap. We are too superior in these fields.

Really???  Bodybuilding is no different than any sport...the champs are mostly black but the people running the events making money are whites, the supplement company owners are white, and last time I checked, Jim Manion was white...

Affirmative Action leads to deteriorating standards.

In South Africa the national rugby team is forced to have a set quota of blacks, and they went from being one of the consistently top three teams in the world to losing matches against mediocre rugby teams. They're playing with an arm tied behind their back while teams like Australia and New Zealand are able to use their best players. This also lessens the merit of the victories from those teams.

And even in society, it leads to deteriorating standards as people with often considerably lower grades, qualifications, capability and experience are pushed into higher positions.

The result is that when seeing a black person in a qualified position, your first thought is they're probably less competent, if at all, and only put there due to Affirmative Action, Black Economic Empowerment or other racial quotas.

That’s because when a black guy earns some money he’s more inclined to spend it on useless junk like rims or a whole new car, while a white guy is more likely to invest some or at least save it for future needs.

Nobody is stopping them from investing their money into bodybuilding events or anything else for that matter. There’s always an excuse.

I don't think affirmative action leads to deteriorating standards. What kind of cruel society would not want to fairly represent their population? If a state has many different races, all those races should be represented equally as per their distribution in society. Otherwise it just isn't fair.

Yes, except for the part about Whites running bodybuilding. I think you're confusing Whites for Jews.

Also, social media has loosened the grip on Jewish-owned media. You yourself being a bodybuilding media proprietor are aware of this.

But yes - I agree there are disparities, and we needn't be afraid to speak on this.

IMO, Blacks and Whites are roughly equal overall in bodybuilding, but given that Blacks are 13% of the USA'S population and Whites are 63%, I would give the coin toss to Blacks. Also, based on Mr. Olympia total wins. We have had, what, 53 total Mr. Olympia contests now? With Blacks winning 28 and Whites 24? Samir Bannout is Lebanese, likely with a fair amount of Caucasian ancestry.

So...yeah, given population proportions, I would give it to Blacks.
