For decades it has been all about the drugs and their protocol.
"Guru" and "trainer" are just code for supplier/pusher. He's only there to give them their fits.
In an interview with [I believe] RX Muscle, Dennis James said that he doesn't just give the training program or diet [the sundae], but he always gives the "cherry on top" [which I, and some others online] assumed to mean that he is a hookup for the actual gear.
I think that was in an interview where he said he would charge $5,000 to do someone's diet. It would have been someone at a high level, and the implication was that the five grand covers the gear required for that contest as well - which could presumably run a few grand just for the gear over the course of the 12 week contest prep/diet.
So yeah, you have a point...unfortunately. But, it is what it is, and I think most of us who follow
the sport the industry have come to accept that.
