It would be great if love is what dictates how Matt thinks. I've known him for a very long time and the things he says and says he does don't seem like they are coming from a place of love or even just understanding. He loves his family, that much I believe is true, even though he doesn't always get along with them and has had some fairly public falling outs. The main thing that bothers me about Matt is his constant stereotyping of people as if everyone is of one mind, either completely liberal or completely conservative.
Most people are somewhere on a continuum, ever changing even when it isn't that noticeable.
I have a friend who has Aspergers. He is very black and white in his thinking, there is no grey area a lot of times. He is also extremely sensitive to what he perceives as unfairness and injustice. People and friends get frustrated with him all the time as he manages to get himself into conflicts everwhere when he thinks he is treated unfairly. But he is a kind person most of the time - I only meet him at the gym but somehow he knows my birthday and congratulates me on FB messenger each year and I don't have my birth date on there!
You have expressed that you kind of want to see Trump sort of ritually humiliated in his loss, "escorted" out of the white house. Exhilarating, isn't it? Hate is great.
We all have our boogaboos. For some it's the Jews, for others it's communists and socialism, yet others equate Jews with communism and socialism and social justice and SJWs. Many are worried about fascism creep, personified by the Orange Hitler (who was huge disappointment for those who were hoping for a new Hitler). SJWs hate everything white, male and Christian, "family values".
Point is, we all hate something.
