Lol! It's time to put Primegrandfather, into a home. It's is always a tough decision to put the elderly "out to pasture".
Actually, it is Prime-great-grandfather. Forget about the 'muscle' part....at my age, muscle is more a memory than anything else. But at least it isn't lard...yet, (Sorry, don't mean to be mean-spirited).
To be honest, I am lucky in that I have options. I've been thinking about where I would like to live lately. Sometimes, Palm Springs looks interesting. But, like Florida, the summers are a bitch weather-wise. I'd definitely would need to become a "sunbird", which is cool too.
My son recently bought a condo in the Bavarian village where he lives. He says it is in preparation for when he and his wife want to scale down. They aren't even seniors yet. He emailed me the floor-plan (hint, hint). It is a one bedroom and small den/office unit with balconies overlooking courtyards and is in walking distance from everything, because it in located in the town center and next to a senior care center.
My imagined ideal life as and ancient retired relic, has long been to live 6 months out of the year in Germany near my son and 6 months at my home in West Linn with my kids in the home they will someday inherit. The one shitty thing is that the weather where my son lives and the weather here is pretty much identical. I wish one of the two places was a tropical climate.
My daughter and her husband have talked about moving to Hawaii. Theyt were stationed at Scholfield Barracks for 5 years and they fell in love with the idea of living in Hawaii. How perfect would that be? spending time in paradise and when the weather is crummy in Bavaria.
Anyway....I am beginning to go on and an on like Matt. At least my novella is a happy one.
For the moment, it is all a just possibilities since oversees travel is out of the question due to Covid.
