You are right about high crime and pollution.  That's why I havent decided.  The attraction is the salary which is 4 times as much as I currently make.   I could live in a gated community though.  It's a big decision and I'll figure it out.

There is absolutely no way any company in Nairobi is going to pay a 4X multiplier on a US salary. Then can get workers from India, Somalia, Sudan, or Pakistan for under the minimum wage here in the States.

You’re going to need to spend a shit ton of money on safety. You will need to live in an Americanized compound with private security. That is easily a few grand in addition to your rent or mortgage. You will also need a driver and a secure vehicle. Americans are easy targets for the street bandits from Somalia who have overrun Nairobi.

If you do go...stay safe, none of us here want to see you get hurt.

Of course, the money is the driving factor but I naturally have to see whether it's worth it.  It's been a few weeks but always have to have input on things...good or bad.  That way I'm not ending up in a shitstorm
