Someone else has already touched on it. They already bring in a lot of tourism and have other castles and grounds of theirs open for tourists. You also get a lot mega wealthy foreigners who love to rub shoulders with the Royals. Wealthy foreigner gets good PR and legitimacy in their native land and in turn they throw money into the UK. The ruler of Dubai india is a good example.

There are no exact figures, but it's likely that there is a net gain in keeping the Royal family around. The Queen is also generally well liked. It's the rest of them that Brits can't stand. It will be interesting to see what happens when she is gone.

Maybe there is a net gain, but with all these fuckers lifestyles, expenditures, servants, maintenance workers and cleaners, and just general upkeep of the castle, I would think they'd have to be exceeding at least 2-5 billion in revenue/donations for a net gain to be feasible.  I do admit that as a Def Leppard fan growing up (I know...lame, and I'm REALLY dating myself there) I actually did a book report assignment on Britain in like the 6th grade and think they will be last Royal family to ever be looked up to as in my generation at least they weren't ruthless rulers.  I think Diana kept the mystique going, and it died when Charles cheated on her with that ugly red headed girl.  He should've been disowned just like whatever his name is that married to Meghan for fucking up the bloodline.  When she died, I don't think many in the U.S. cared much about news about them anymore.  Now that we've heard the pedo allegations, most are disgusted by all of them.

The tourism side is huge. It's 365, Americans, wealthy Chinese and Indians.

The crown will probably go straight to William and the old guard royal family will be put out to pasture. William will be the bland king and the media focus will all be on his children. The Royals have great PR people, advisors, Doctors, everything. Best of the best. William having 3 kids (probably more to follow) is most likely something the advised him to do. Out with the old and in with the new. It will be like how Kyile and Kendall kept the Kardashian brand going for the next generation.
