Your stepmother sounds like she needs a kick in the ass.
I was taking care of my dad when he was in his final years. No one could get between me and him when it came to treatment. My brothers felt the same. My dad ended up living a nice long life and he went peacefully, taking the time to tell each of us how happy he was that we were there for him
It's ok to be a bad ass guy you know. You only have one dad.
I'm 12000 miles away from him tho. He's in Bar Harbor & I'm in Australia.
Her behavior isn't surprising or concerningly out of character tho. This is simply a continuation of her decades long policy of being necessarily correct and perpetually exasperated with basically everyone, lol. I haven't seen this level of oblivious madcap impropriety from her before tho. They're odd people. Happiest when there's something to gripe about. That kind of thing.
And I really can't be clearer that I'm glad dad took it and want him to get boosters asap. He's 83. It's not like I call them up and start shitting on the vax. He calls me and keeps asking me if I'm vaccinated so I say no. She's very nearly shrieking down the phone "It's not about anything but the data!" Geez, you don't sound so dispassionate yourself there.
There are zero cases in Western Australia, but apparently I need to do it anyway because her vaccinated brother went out to dinner in Florida and caught it, but the shot is effective, and my gf's coworker who had a stroke in days immediately following her shot is only proof that people have strokes, and my mother's tinnitus increase right after vaccination is false because stepmom has tinnitus and hers didn't change, etc.I love my dad but there's no talking to these people.
Honestly, I just spent most of the conversation trying to keep her calm. Any attempt at actual discussion is clearly futile, and that's not my mission anyway. She's mid 60s. My mission is to make sure she's all about my father, and she seems to be. So I'm pleased about that.
Shit's gonna get wild over the next year tho if you haven't had your shots.
