The mask that Michael Myers wore in Halloween (1978) was, in fact, a Captain Kirk mask! The mask was purchased for $2 at a costume store. They eyes were reshaped with scissors, the hair teased out, and the mask was painted flat white. The production crew tested out the Captain Kirk mask and decided it was much more creepy than others they had tried because it was emotionless, much like Michael himself.
During production for Halloween 2 (1981) Rick Sternbach was able to trace the mask back to Don Post Studios, who supplied the production with a box full of Shatner masks.

I'm not sure which is creepier: the painted and altered mask or a box full of Shatner masks.
