No, fake....watch when the ball comes off the bat, they couldnt remove a part of where the real ball went. Also, his hand doesnt move when catching the ball. There would have to be some displacement of force from the ball.

THe problem is that the cinematics group didn't filter out the original baseball in the first place. In the slow motion you can see the other ball head out towards center field and then this ball is created and curved out past 1st base.
