What to know about the final public meeting of the Jan. 6 committee:

The committee voted to make criminal referrals to the Justice Department for former President Donald Trump, lawyer John Eastman and unspecified "others." Trump was referred under four criminal statutes: obstructing an official proceeding, making false statements, defrauding the U.S. and inciting an insurrection.

The panel also referred four Republican members of Congress to the House Ethics Committee for ignoring its subpoenas; it did not name the members.

The committee released a 154-page summary of its findings Monday. The full final report is expected to be made public this week.

Yeah I know, it is another cut and paste. This speaks for itself. There is no need to try and rephrase it.

Snore!

And closing out the holiday week is this great news and good tidings.  It is a real new low when you go to jail because of a NFT grifter.

---
Allegheny County man sentenced to jail for role in Capitol riot.

A Bridgeville man who pleaded guilty to a felony for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot will serve two months in jail.

Kenneth Grayson, 51, was sentenced Monday in federal court, according to Channel 11 news partner the Tribune-Review. He will also serve two years of supervised release and pay $2,000 restitution.

Grayson had been charged with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. He pleaded guilty to a single felony count of civil disorder Sept. 20.

Grayson went to a rally at the Ellipse then walked toward the Capitol where he illegally entered the grounds, according to court documents.

Officials said Grayson entered the Capitol through the Senate Wing doors around 2:20 p.m. and went to the Crypt. He also went to the Rotunda area where a mob of rioters started to stand in a row in front of law enforcement officers and then push against them to gain access to the adjoining hall.

Grayson remained inside the Capitol for 47 minutes. He livestreamed a video on his Facebook page from inside the Capitol, officials said.

Grayson was arrested 20 days after the insurrection in Bridgeville.

Merry Christmas.  Kind of stupid to post evidence against you on Facebook.

---
A Northwest Arkansas man was arrested Monday in connection with the riot at the U.S. Capitol while Congress was attempting to count electoral votes on Jan. 6, 2021.

Brennen Cline Machacek, of Hindsville, Arkansas, faces federal charges that include violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, according to court documents.

In a court document, an FBI agent alleges Machacek went into the Capitol building through the window near the Senate Wing Door and wandered through the Capitol before exiting.

The FBI began investigating when a tipster said he recognized Machacek from when they served together in the military.

A man who looks like Machacek can be seen in several videos and photos of the event, according to the court document.

The FBI obtained Verizon records, which showed that a device registered to Machacek was in the geographic area of the Capitol at the time of the riot.

The tipster who told the FBI about Machacek also sent them screenshots of comments in a Facebook group for military veterans.

In one screenshot, an account with the name "Mrennen Bachacek" wrote, "You could walk in on the first floor and the cops would tell you to go out that door I didn't know all that craziness happened till later that night up on the 4th flood, cops were letting people use the restroom right there."

Machacek is the fifth Arkansan arrested on charges stemming from the Capitol riot.

Richard Barnett, of Gravette, was seen in a viral photo inside House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office, with his feet on a desk. Charges against him include obstruction of an official proceeding, theft of government property and entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon. His trial is set for Jan. 9, 2023.

Jon Thomas Mott, of Flippin, pleaded guilty to a charge of parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. In one video, Mott is seen pushing against a police officer's baton while telling him, "don't touch me" and "if you don't touch me, I won't touch you," a law enforcement report states.

Robert "Bob" Snow, of Heber Springs, pleaded guilty to parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. A judge sentenced him to a year of probation and $510 in fines in July 2022. He has apologized for taking part.

Three weeks isn't a long time, but having his license suspended hurts more.

S.C. lawyer sentenced to 3 weeks in jail over U.S. Capitol riot.

A South Carolina lawyer who was charged in the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol was sentenced on Friday in Washington, D.C., federal court to 21 days in jail, 90 days of home confinement and three years of probation.

David C. Johnston, 66, who has been suspended since May from practicing law in his home state, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor after unlawfully entering the Capitol as hundreds of supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the building.

U.S. prosecutors sought a 42-day jail term for Johnston, who has been fired from 40-attorney North Charleston, S.C.-based firm George Sink. Johnston worked on personal injury and worker's compensation matters at the firm.

She was getting away with it until her brother opened his mouth.  What a pair of dummies.

Sister of Chicago police officer charged in Capitol riot now also arrested.

A year and a half after federal prosecutors charged a Chicago police officer for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot, they have now also filed criminal charges against his sister.

Agnieszka Chwiesiuk, 29, of Chicago, was arrested Monday and charged with entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly conduct in a Capitol building; and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.

No attorney had been listed in court records for Agnieszka Chwiesiuk as of Monday afternoon. The charges filed against her are misdemeanors.

An FBI special agent wrote in court records that Chwiesiuk’s police officer brother, Karol, had been accompanied in the Capitol by a female with long hair. She wore a red knit cap with white and blue stripes, a white and blue face mask featuring upside-down U.S. flags, a black coat and a black mini backpack, the agent wrote. She’d also kept her hat pulled down to her eyebrows, obscuring most of her face in available photos and videos.

However, when the FBI arrested Karol Chwiesiuk at his family home in Chicago in June 2021, Agnieszka Chwiesiuk apparently asked whether she would also be taken into custody.

The FBI seized Karol Chwiesiuk’s phone, the agent wrote. It had been so damaged it would not turn on. Still, the FBI managed to recover images from the phone, the agent wrote. Among them was a photo of his sister in the Capitol without her facemask, records show.

The feds say Agnieszka Chwiesiuk attended then-President Donald Trump’s rally that day, then walked down Pennsylvania Avenue to the U.S. Capitol with her brother and others.

Agnieszka Chwiesiuk allegedly entered the Capitol at 2:58 p.m. through a broken Senate Wing doorway, walked into the Crypt and left the building around 3:06 p.m.

Karol Chwiesiuk is accused of sharing pictures of himself inside the office of U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Oregon. He is set to go to trial May 1.

First do no harm.  But bring pepper spray to use on others.   ::)

So much for all that time spent in med school.  Unemployed and will most likely lose her license all together.

Mass. Doctor Arrested, Accused of Punching Officer During Jan. 6 Capitol Riot.

A Massachusetts doctor who allegedly punched a police officer during the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol was arrested Tuesday, federal prosecutors said.

Dr. Jacquelyn Starer, 68, appeared in federal court in Boston Tuesday on charges including felony civil disorder and assaulting, resisting or impeding officers, according to the Department of Justice.

The FBI was tipped off on Jan. 11, 2021, to Starer's plan to attend the march that led to the riot days earlier, according to court documents. The tipster said she planned to bring pepper spray.

Phone and hotel records confirmed Starer was in the area, and images found online appeared to show her at the march and later at the riot outside and inside the Capitol, officials said.

Bodycam footage from a Washington, D.C., Metropolitan police officer show Starer hitting an officer in the Capitol Rotunda, according to a court document. The officer who was struck told investigators that she remembered the incident and recognized the woman who hit her in the bodycam footage.

Starer appeared from footage of the incident to have been affected by a chemical deployed to control the crowd, officials said. More footage, including images taken by news photographers, appears to show her being helped inside and outside of the Capitol minutes later.

Someone who's worked with Starer identified her from five images during the riot, including one of her appearing to strike the police officer, officials said.

Outside of court Tuesday, Starer, of Ashland, Massachusetts, did not want to talk about the allegations against her, why she may have been in D.C. that day or anything related to the case.

She is due back in court next Wednesday, though prosecutors are working to move the case to Washington, D.C. If convicted, she faces up to 12 years in prison.

Starer is a practicing doctor, according to the FBI. She worked at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital but "is no longer active at our organization," a representative said.

She has served as the president of the Massachusetts Society of Addiction Medicine. Starer's disciplinary record is clean, according to the state's Board of Registration in Medicine.

Good times!  Except for this fool.  More like hammer time to slammer time.  Wonder how much $$$ Trumpy fleeced from this fool over the years?  He doesn't sound very smart.  Probably has an auto debit each month for the Big Lie.    ;)  That little standoff will really help get him less time when he is sentenced.   :D

---
Jan. 6 participant arrested after hourslong standoff with the FBI.

A man who carried what appeared to be a hammer at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, got into a standoff Thursday with the FBI for hours before special agents arrested him for his role in the riot, law enforcement officials said.

The FBI arrested Eric Christie on Thursday after several hours in which he refused to cooperate with authorities after they arrived at a home in Sherman Oaks, California. Two law enforcement officials confirmed his arrest.

Online sleuths had identified Christie as a Jan. 6 participant, and images show him on top of a law enforcement vehicle on the east side of the Capitol, wrapped in rainbow flag and with what appears to be a hammer hanging from his belt. The law enforcement activity took place at an address associated with an Eric Christie.

Christie was previously named by a defense attorney in another Jan. 6 case, in which the court filing suggested he was a "suspicious actor" and questioned why he hadn't been arrested yet. He was publicly identified by the anti-fascist activist and security researcher Chad Loder in February 2021.

Christie was a Trump supporter who was spotted at his rallies in the Los Angeles area, as was Gina Bisignano, another Jan. 6 defendant, and a rioter nicknamed "Swedish Scarf," who has been charged alongside Daniel "D.J." Rodriguez, who admitted to the FBI that he drove a stun gun into the neck of former police officer Michael Fanone on Jan. 6.

Another Jan. 6 defendant, Edward Kelley of Tennessee, was arrested last week and accused of plotting to kill FBI special agents who worked on his case.

Imagine being so estrogen ridden that you can't stop crying over simple facts being posted and have to resort to off topic replies simply because - although you have nothing to say, you have say something.

On the bright side, all those tears of impotent rage is a blessing.  Helps reduce the edema around those ankles.

**yawn**
Boooooorrring. ::)
Can we talk about inflation, illegal immigration, war, failing infrastructure, corruption, etc of the current administration?
And LOL @ Congress and Ethics in the same sentence. ;D

Talk about anything you like. If the above-mentioned topics suit you, go for it. That you think the January 6 assault on the Capital and the democratic Constitutional process boring, says a lot about you.

Where were you 50 years ago during the Watergate scandal when the U.S. dealt with Richard Nixon another egotistical, dishonest person who craved power and was willing to do anything to stay in office? (At least he knew when the jig was finally up).

Likewise, what do you know about McCarthyism? Joseph McCarthy rose suddenly to national fame in February 1950, when he asserted in a speech that he had a list of "members of the Communist Party and members of a spy ring" who were employed in the State Department. Does this remind you of anything going on today?

So OK lets talk about the issues you mentioned.

Failing infrastructure? This doesn't seem to be the case:

Since signing the law:

The Biden-Harris Administration has announced over $110 billion to rebuild roads and bridges, modernize ports and airports, replace lead pipes to deliver clean water, and expand high-speed internet. This includes funding for over 4,300 specific projects, touching over 3,200 communities across all 50 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico.

53 states and territories have appointed state infrastructure coordinators, responding to the call from Infrastructure Coordinator Landrieu to appoint an individual to coordinate efforts in a state along with serving as a single point of contact for the White House Infrastructure Implementation Team.

The President, Vice President, and Cabinet have traveled on more than 125 trips to over 40 states as well as D.C. and Puerto Rico to demonstrate how the President is delivering on this once-in-a-generation opportunity.

The I-205 Abernethy Bridge Project, which is 1 1/2 miles from my house, is first in US to participate in the pilot program to increase workforce development opportunities.

What do you think caused the current rate of inflation? What is your plan to lower inflation? Inflation is not something new nor is the current inflation the highest we've ever seen. Still an 8.5% inflation is nothing to sneeze at. The inflation rate for consumer prices in the United States of America moved over the past 61 years between -0.4% and 13.5%.

When I recently posted on Getbig these thoughts about ending illegal immigration the post was mostly ignored.

This is a first! I agree with you. However, I would take it step further. Be prepared to go through the process or there is no invitation (immigration visa). No immigration visa means no entry. Immigrant visas start the process for permanent resident status, but they do not provide resident status themselves.

Following WWI, literacy tests kept many folks from obtaining visas. A 1924 law required immigrants to present medical certificates to the U.S. consul abroad and obtain a visa prior to arriving in the United States.

What is interesting is there are provisions (laws) in place for entering the U.S., working in the U.S. (green card) and citizenship application. If the law was enforced, illegal immigration wouldn't be as big an issue as it is today. Otherwise, no entry, 'too bad - so sad'.

I assume you mean government corruption. Could you provide some examples of what you think is currently going on that is corrupt?

As I mentioned previously "etc." is meaningless because it is undefined.

Without talking point by point here, for time and attentions sake, these billions are about equal to what he has given Ukraine, right? Imagine if it had stayed here in the US? Now because your area seems to be benefitting from some of the governments handouts of taxpayer dollars, not everyone is. Bad international deals, preventing products from being made in the US and halting shipments and unloading of goods from overseas because of some "epidemic", printing massive amounts of money to hand out to the freeloaders that the government created, all of these contribute, sure there's more, maybe you could tell us with your antique wisdom?

Oh, I don't know... maybe that I don't support it.

Quote

Two wrongs do not make a right. All things are not equal. While wrong, riots and violence in the streets and an attempt to overthrow the government are not on the same level.

50 years ago I wasn't even born.
Exactly my point. You lack historical reference.
Are you insinuating that you believe Biden has no ego and is an honest person?
No. I am not insinuating any thing of the sort. Everyone has an ego. Biden may be dishonest, but any lies he supposedly told in a five decade long political career pale by comparison to Trump’s absolute dishonesty.

Tell us all the story of what happened then, since you were there.
I was born in 1944. McCarthyism, “the red scare”, the McCarthy years started in the late 1940’s and lasted about a decade. Technically, I was there. The relevance of McCarthyism to today is that there are people mostly on the far right, who accuse folks that do not agree with them Communists. Coach does this frequently and has done so for some time.
…The spirit of Joe McCarthy continues to infuse our politics—especially today, in an era of politically charged Congressional investigations into topics like Hillary Clinton’s supposed role in the deaths of U.S. embassy staff in Benghazi, Presidential candidate Donald Trump’s racially charged attack on U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel because of his Mexican heritage, and Trump’s the suggestion that the United States create a special  a registry for Muslims. The Progressive was, is, and will remain the voice of reason in an era of dangerous demagoguery.
If the shoe fits…
The Progressive magazine once called McCarthy “an ambitious faker living by his wits and guts, a ruthless egotist bent on personal power regardless of the consequence to his country, a shrewd and slippery operator with the gambler's gift for knowing when and how to bluff . . . .”

Without talking point by point here, for time and attentions sake, these billions are about equal to what he has given Ukraine, right? Imagine if it had stayed here in the US? Now because your area seems to be benefitting from some of the governments handouts of taxpayer dollars, not everyone is. You could come on down to CA and check out our roads, power grid, water supplies, ETC.
Ask a dozen people how our tax dollars should be spent and get a dozen different responses.
Although Biden is getting both the credit and blame for the infrastructure bill, it would not exist had Congress not overwhelmingly approved of it.
What was the vote in Congress on the infrastructure bill? It was split 69 – 30 percent. With a record vote number of 314.
Likewise, Congress just cleared a $1.7 trillion funding bill with Ukraine aid.
It is unfortunate that California isn’t getting the infrastructure funding you believe it should. Although I used a local example of the infrastructure spending, I am sure the Abernathy bridge didn’t get all the money approved in the infrastructure bill.

No singular cause of inflation, no one event to say, "this is it", however, I've long maintained that consumer confidence in the leadership of the country can and will drive prices and consumption of goods. Bad international deals, preventing products from being made in the US and halting shipments and unloading of goods from overseas because of some "epidemic", printing massive amounts of money to hand out to the freeloaders that the government created, all of these contribute, sure there's more, maybe you could tell us with your antique wisdom?
My ‘antique wisdom’ concurs with you in that there is “no singular cause of inflation, no one event”… BTW, I am no financial wizard, just a regular guy with a modest income that dictates conservative spending habits.
Inflationary periods may be necessary to maintain the financial status quo, which would explain why it shows up every so often. This does not mean we have to like it or that it is easy. Inflation mostly affects the poor, middle class, and those on fixed incomes. Being on a fixed income myself, I sure as heck don’t welcome inflation.

I assume you must be joking? I could go into Bidens history in Ukraine, his sons history in Ukraine, Pelosis insider trading deals, but what good what it do? Your response will be the typical "were they convicted" yet you convict Trump based on what you've read on the internet. That's called hypocrisy.
I have been somewhat involved in politics for decades as a union activist and lobbyist. During that time, I have met, campaigned for, and conversed with many politicians at both the state and federal level.
Several years ago, my labor union encouraged me to take a class which trained folks to run for office. I tried it and quickly realized it was not for me when we were being taught how to raise (hit people up for) campaign finances.
Experience taught me that politicians are in a special class where honesty is subjective. I am horrible at lying; therefore, I am not qualified to be a politician.
As I have often posted one crime does not forgive another. However, some misdeeds and crimes are worse than others. There is no point in us arguing which politicians commit the greatest offenses because we are unlikely find agreement. And because our personal opinions almost no impact on the big picture.

Oh, I don't know... maybe that I don't support it.
I believe we've already settled that we agree on this.

Quote
The fact that you think Jan 6th event is bigger and more dangerous to the US than the riots and violence that happened during antifa and blm destruction says a lot about you as well.
Two wrongs do not make a right. All things are not equal. While wrong, riots and violence in the streets and an attempt to overthrow the government are not on the same level.
The fact that you believe Jan 6th was an attempt to overthrow the government is telling of how you choose to perceive what a threat is.

We will disagree on this. The biggest difference is that Trumps lies were blasted on tv and social media 24/7 no matter how benign, while Bidens lies are covered, hidden and downplayed by the tv and social media outlets as we are starting to see by what Musk is releasing and admitting to finding with his Twitter purchase.

The best case scenario would be to have ALL politicians endure the ridicule and dragging through the mud that conservatives face daily by almost all media outlets, however since that's not happening and it appears that republicans are the ones taking the brunt of negative media coverage, it encourages the rest of us to dislike the left side more than they are already dislikable.
The media is our biggest enemy and the left uses them to push the political divide as far as they can to disrupt peaceful discussion.

Cool Chaos. I'd rather be your friend than your enemy - meaning when you and I agree, it feels better than when we don't. Too bad life gets in the way of this happening, way too often.

Merry Christmas... on this I hope we can agree.

Now that the holiday focusing on the imaginary gift bearing white man in celebration of the imaginary water walking schizophrenic religious man is over, let's get back to what isn't imaginary.  That's the desperation of these Trumpturds show when they are trying to save their asses after realizing they were duped by the Big Lie.

Stupidity obviously played a major role that is for sure.  As a whole, the entire crowd was not very bright.  I mean,  people that would crawl up a wall, rather than use steps which are readily available???   "Stable geniuses"... the lot of them.   ;D

Fishersville man attempting to negotiate plea deal in Capitol riots case.

A Fishersville man facing numerous charges of violence in connection with the 2021 Capitol riots entered into negotiations last month with the federal government in an effort to reach a plea deal, according to court records.

Jeffrey McKellop, 56, has been held in jail since his arrest in March 2021.

He is accused of being part of a large crowd that gathered outside the United States Capitol Building on Jan. 6, 2021, as a joint session of Congress convened to certify the votes of the Electoral College for the 2020 presidential election, which was won by President Joe Biden.

On Nov. 9, McKellop's attorney, John C. Kiyonaga, informed the government of his client's interest in a possible plea deal, court documents show. Federal prosecutors extended a plea offer and a counteroffer was made.

The News Leader reached out to Kiyonaga on Tuesday Dec. 20 in an effort to see if negotiations are ongoing or if a deal has been reached. However, Kiyonaga has not commented.

Last month, Kiyonaga filed a motion that made claims of entrapment based on what then President Donald Trump told protesters shortly before rioting broke out. Recently, the Jan. 6 House Committee recommended Trump face criminal charges.

McKellop, who is not accused of breaching the Capitol Building, remains behind bars at the Correctional Treatment Facility while awaiting trial. A jury trial is set for April 18, according to his court file.

A former soldier who spent nine years in the Special Forces, McKellop is accused by federal authorities of donning a helmet, tactical vest, protective eyewear and a gas mask on the day of the riots. He's suspected of assaulting officers, throwing bottles at police and allegedly picking up a flagpole and striking a police officer in the face, causing a wound. McKellop then reportedly threw the flagpole at the same officer like a spear, documents allege.

He's facing 17 federal counts.

About 900 suspects have been arrested in connection with the 2021 Capitol riots, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Nearly 100 of those suspects, including McKellop, have been charged with using a deadly or dangerous weapon or causing serious bodily injury to an officer. Approximately 140 police officers were assaulted Jan. 6 at the Capitol, including about 80 from the U.S. Capitol Police and about 60 from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Meadville resident dubbed 'JackTheTripper' pleads guilty in Jan. 6 riots.

A website that tracks images from the riots at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, labeled Meadville resident Mikhail E. Slye as "JackTheTripper."

Slye has admitted to the actions that earned him the moniker.

He pleaded guilty to using a bike rack to intentionally trip a U.S. Capitol Police officer during the breach of the Capitol.

Slye entered the plea on Tuesday in federal court in Washington, D.C., to a felony charge of assaulting, resisting or impeding law enforcement officers, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia said in a news release.

Slye faces a maximum sentence of eight years in federal prison at his sentencing on April 3 before U.S. District Court Judge James E. Boasberg, who accepted the plea. Slye is free on a promise to appear at his court proceedings.

The FBI on Sept. 30 arrested Slye, then 32, in Meadville. He was charged with the assault count as well as the felony of interfering with a law enforcement officer during a civil disorder, and six misdemeanors. The government dropped all but the assault charge as part of the plea agreement.

As part of the deal, Slye agreed to cooperate with investigators. He will allow "law enforcement agents to review any social media accounts" he operated to look for statements or posts related to the storming of the Capitol, according to the plea agreement.

The officer whom Slye tripped was with other officers who were attempting to rescue another officer caught in the crowd on the north side of the Capitol, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia said. The officer fell down the stairs and suffered injuries to his hand, wrist and lower body.
