It appears that you don't get it. In 2021, Kia did double the sales of BMW in the US, so it appears people are buying them. Meanwhile, you're driving an inline 6 thats over 10 years old, and will pay out of pocket for German parts that you can barely afford. The smart people unload their BMWs after the warranties run out for a reason. Almost everyday on the highway, I see a late model 3 series broken down on the side of the road along with its dindu driver shaking his head. Prestigious car you've got there  :D
Audi mechanic I know he says get cars on 3 year deals or at lest get rid before the warrenty runs out, cars these days are all electric and pretty much impossible to work on yourself

Just lift the bonnet on any new car and just imagine tring to get at the engine, there isnt a millimetre of space

My 2011 holds up quite nicely....

You're lucky.

I have  a 2008 Chrysler T&C bought new.  A notoriously piece of crap car model.

However, I got lucky and mine has been solid for 14 years.

Plus yours has got you behind the wheel, its like a hobo who has found a Rolex

(knock on wood) I believe in the lead foot theory for most cases. Some people just drive their cars into the dirt and/or don't perform the regular/ routine maintenance.

That's true but some cars are just made like crap or overcomplex and super expensive to repair.

You have to go to a foreign car repair specialist or get ripped off by the dealers who think since you drive a BMW you must be flush and ready to be hosed.

If you can afford to fix them then more power to you.

The resale value of some of these cars is a joke.

No need for pics especially a stolen one trying to pass it as your own. I already experienced it in person 14 years ago. I even had the same champagne leather seats. Mine was faster though.

When you Google "what used cars not to buy", this pops up as the number 1 result. Your car made a list!

I've found buying stuff like that costs more.  Doesn't make sense money-wise.

If you are a high-earner whose time is worth big money (doctor) then it can make sense.

For most people it's not a good move.

My time isn't worth sh*t so I go to the store and get the deals.

Nothing wrong with a car that looks like this:

According to Consumer Reports, there are plenty things wrong.

BMWs and Mercedes are expensive to repair and after a few years become money pits.

Only lease new and then turn them back in before they fall apart.

Never buy a used one.  You'll go broke fixing them.

is that right?

how many years did you drive a merc or bmw?

I'm not a car guy so I don't buy uber expensive cars.  Never had an interest in cars like that.

Cars are strictly for getting me from A to B.  They are a poor use of money.  Depreciating assets.

I have always put my money to work making more money.

Expensive cars are expensive to repair.  No getting around that fact.

Notice I did not say "don't buy a BMW or Mercedes".

I said if you must have one to lease a new one and then turn it back in while it's still under warranty.

That way you don't have to deal with the expensive repairs.  All cars need repairs eventually.

Bottom line, BMW wouldn't be considered an all-time car brand if all they made were shit cars.  What do you drive? A Civic... ::)

Half the price? The model shown in the race goes for 50k+

Sorry, Kia doesn't have the brand recognition to charge that much.

I'd rather have a Corvette.  But everything in the car market is way overpriced right now.

A paid off $50,000 vehicle, something you can’t say. Stop denying free market capitalism. Your car is also paid off but is only $15,000 and is unreliable. My Telluride is almost as fast. Brutal and true.
