Thanks. We both know that's not true. I've done okay for someone with a rough start/childhood and not a ton of ambition. My late wife  frequently reminded me of how 'comfortable' we were when I would get down on myself and have bouts of feelings of insecurity.

My current retirement income is just under a hundred thousand a year and my total dept is next to zilch, (I am a pauper by Getbig standards). I live a comfortable life and, unlike a lot of folks my age and in my situation, my savings is growing. I had expected I would have to 'tighten my belt' and somewhere down the road I may still have to... specially if I live to be 100 years old like my doctor says I will. But, for the moment, all is good. The almost 9% increase in Social Security benefits this year was nice and unexpected. Guess I wasn't paying attention. My tune may change when I do my taxes for this year.

And if I did, I'd rather look up to someone who could afford to retire at 40 and still had many years ahead enjoying life while still relatively young.
